have you found you don't catch colds, or any bugs when on methadone only dope sick.

I was on methadone 13 years never got any of the everyday colds, flu's, stomach virus, nothing but what was caused my methadone. I asked everyone I could in line waiting for dose. Most agreed. One guy said,"I crashed my car and broke my back." I tried not to stare in awe of this new incite into the emptiness of humans.
Could it be that are body is so ready to fight the sickness that we came to know so well ,that with other ills we are immune too. I just got of methadone. No congrats. I used fentanyl citrate to do it and have a 40 mg three times a day habit.
Food for thought, no that would be stimulants.
If this is true maybe the cure for the zombie apocalypse.ahhh.

Opioids are great cough suppressants and can expertly suppress the symptoms of colds. There are a bunch of other threads on this. I'm going to move your thread.

Yes I found this too. I was on methadone for 5 yrs and was literally never sick with any cold/flu type stuff, aside from dopesickness here and there. I wonder how much of that is just being hyper-focussed on opiates though, to the exclusion of mostly everything else.

Not just methadone but pretty much opioids in general. I haven't been sick since I started taking opioids of any kind daily, and it's been years now. Like Baooozs said this is actually a pretty common phenomena and you can find many threads about this kind of thing, not sure why it happens as they (opioids) seem to do more than just mask symptoms.
