I've probably introduced at least 50 people to psychedelics. Almost everyone who I've introduced has done drugs but never really messed with psychedelics, mainly because of fear. I see it as my duty to break down their false, negative expectations and then offer them the substance to try for themselves.
Sometimes it has been helpful: I introduced about 10 acquaintances to DMT one time at a party. We all experienced somewhat of an objective consensual trip, and one person had their first visual effects from a psychedelic!
Sometimes not so much... I once gave 2C-E to a few friends and one night while driving around and drinking, they were pulled over by the police. No one got in trouble, the cops let them go. However, one friend ended up with HPPD from the experience and had to go on medications (which he is still on to this day).
Also the biggest error that I ran into was assuming that otherwise intelligent and well-read individuals would take it upon themselves to do their own research. I once offered a gram of 2C-I to a friend. He was knowledgeable of erowid and other websites, but decided consuming the entire gram was a great idea. He ended up with a hefty medical bill but with no lasting side effects.
I would say that overall, the people I have introduced psychedelics to have had an improvement in their lives. I've introduced a lot more people to opiates and that has done nothing but harm.
