Have you ever got your drugs mixed up??

I had a friend pass away once from getting cigarette ash in his shot. He was nodding out while making his next fix, (while a cigarette hanged in his mouth). Didn't even realize that there was ash in his mix. We saw it afterwards on the spoon once they took his body away.

Don't know about the other stuff, but it takes a surprisingly large amount of air to kill you. Google air embolism lethal dose to find more.

Damn, that's bad. Are you sure he died from the ash? Did the doctors say anything about the cause of death? I hope you don't mind me asking - you don't have to answer. It just made me curious about how exactly the ash in there would kill someone (not saying it didn't - i'm sure it can).

^ yet another reason to quit smoking cigarettes

Ash from a cigarette in a shot can cause an allergic reaction. I'm not surprised that there haven't been more people who died in this fashion.

if he was nodding out and then did more dope my guess is that's what did it. only times I've fell out were from doing more when I was already nodding.

Think about all the disgusting shit that is in cigarette ash.. and putting that in your veins? After we got back to the apartment, and saw his gear.. (because we'd been with him the whole time, he used the same dope we always get and the same amount he always did, the ash was the only additional variable this time around) We went down to the needle exchange and asked the people that worked there about it and they said it was more common than we realized and that there was a good chance that's what happened. So, if you smoke.. never smoke while you're making your shot.

A+

Quit smoking cigarettes. If you can't, and you're an IV drug user, just wait until after shooting to light up. It's better to quit all together though.

Absolutely. I had quit for a year, ironically it was this past year I was using straight through.. I had no problem. Once I got sober, I started smoking again.. Hah. Granted very lightly but I'm giving it up entirely again. Just not worth it. Smells bad, inhibits endurance, and is just plain counterproductive to where I want to be in my life in terms of healthy living. Trying to quit what remains of my alcohol intake too and really get serious about being healthy. I've done 10 years of damage to my body. Time to start mending...

I feel you, well best of luck with quitting again! I know tons of people who smoked after quitting heroin to cope with the withdrawals, it's very common sadly.

I'm so glad that e-cigarettes are a viable alternative for people who rely on nicotine's effects.

Thanks, man. And yeah.. I actually used those to help me quit the first time. Going to do it again.
