Have you almost died from anything?

i know its wierd cuz speedballing is generally considered soooo much more dangerous... but for me the counterbalance of the two almost kept me from doing anything really stupid....
fuck cocaine.... once you start shooting it you cant help but try and make each shot bigger than the last... even though the last one almost ended you....

and also i agree with znegative ... nothing worse than that hyperawareness....

and to the question of survivng an overdose... it haunts me a lot more now that i am sober than when i was doing all of that....
 
typical od experience.

hadn't used methadone at least 6 months prior to od day.
too much klonopin talked me into taking my old
dose. bathroom floor. ems. narcan. drank charcoal.
4-5 days in the hospital..narcan administered
several more times..as i kept falling out.
after..was forced to go to the nuthouse..since
everyone refused to believe i wasn't trying to commit suicide.
i wasn't. i was just stupid.
 
Uuh let's see, OD'ed twice on benzos & alcohol, once on oxycodone, once on heroin & benzos and once on heroin & alcohol.
Needless to say I'm a bit reckless with my combos :\
Although two of those were suicide attempts.

In the same boat there with one of mine. It was almost a litre of vodka, 200mg of Valium and about 1.5g of heroin. I couldn't speak for about 48 hrs after waking up. Sick as a dog too on the amount of Narcan they shoved into me.
 
^ you said it my man, waking up and feeling that precipitated withdrawal sickness, then having to deal with the fallout from trying to kill yourself...it's those times you NEED benzos or junk more than anything!And then typically not having any because you done em all to do yourself in... I thought at the time 'Next time I'm doing this right'.
 
Haha, exactly. I mean it's like, I just tried to kill myself and not only did I fail but now I have to deal with all this extra shit? Really?
Laughing about it now but at the time it wasn't really so funny :P

I only got injected with narcan once though, the other times I just woke up in bed (will spare you the gruesome details) about 3 days later feeling like I'd literally just been stabbed through the head. Among other many other unpleasant feelings....
 
Man it's good we can be light hearted about it! The extra shit in itself was having me wanting to check out of the hospital and step in front of a train. Being sick compounds it all too.
well after 3days unconscious its no surprise you were feeling dreadful :-/
I once took Suboxone a bit too early and felt the ghosts of those hospital visits come back to haunt me! (I know thats the Buprenorphine not the Naloxone in it)
 
just a few days ago took nearly 8 times my usual dose of benzos when i woke up in the morning(7am), went to work and got dope cravings

copped 7 bags of dope around 7pm

snorted 6 of them, passed out

woke up like an hour later saw i had one more bag left, snorted it, passed out moments later(despite trying like hell to stay awake)

someone who lives with me reported that they heard me making snoring noises despite not being a snorrer, ever

the other time i parachuted dried pods and played a good hour and a half of pretty intense basketball

after playing went back to bar with a few friends, about 1/2 hour into being there i head out to my car, i know i'm about to lose consciousness so i decide to lay down

i was shaken awake a few minutes later, everything was okay after that but god damn was i embarrassed, i didn't know what to say(later i told the truth to someone who witnessed it)

i wasn't properly hydrating myself, pretty sure dehydration was the major factor, as the dried pods tend to dry you out
 
^In some places. I think many states in the US are quite uptight about that, it's quite a source of controversy because it causes lots of people who witness drug overdoses not to call an ambulance because they're afraid of legal ramifications.
I lived in France when I was brought to the hospital after my overdose and there were no legal problems but then again the health system here's excellent. That's not to say they weren't still ridiculously judgemental.
 
I've lost count of the times I nearly died. Usually it was due to huge doses of pills...sometimes chasing them with alcohol or half a bottle of Nyquil. Waking up in the ER or ICU with tubes in my arms...however, waking up in the psych unit was worse. When the doctors realized how many pills I'd taken, they assumed it was a suicide attempt. Which it wasn't...though many times I'd take the pills and not really care if I died or not.

Once overdosed in a sober living...I have a blurry memory of police and paramedics all around me. Later I discovered the police were there just in case I had street drugs on me...after they found the prescription bottles with my name on them, they left.
 
^ I know what you mean by the not caring if you live or die. It's always what pushes you to tap that little bit more into the spoon...

A nurse in the hospital looked after me one time in hospital by going out and getting me something to drink, sitting talking to me(she asked me why i didn't smoke it and was no way judgemental) and then took me to her flat when she finished her shift. I repaid her by shooting up when she went to bed. She had remembered me from being brought in after a previous OD and they had to use about 120 stitches on the wounds i'd inflicted with broken glass. She tried to do the 'you have so much to live for' talk and was so so nice to me, but I was in the height of withdrawal and craving the smack hidden in my bag like you wouldn't believe. I was willing her to just shut up and leave me alone for five mins...I know that sounds so so so terrible, but this is the mentality of a junkie I guess.
That time the paramedics found my 'works tin' of needles and citric acid etc and packets of morphine tablets but stuffed it all into my bag and put it in the ambulance with me. I had loads more gear on me because the OD was a total accident. A lucky one, because if i had of done the gear 5 mins later i'd be dead as nobody would have found me. It took 2 injections of Narcan to wake me up.
They never call the cops here unless i'd say you are found in a room full of drugs...as in, too much for your personal use. Or like if you go out in public. If it's in a private residence and there's no real need to, then it's just the paramedics.
That nurse was so lovely and i've never forgotten her. She still writes me e-mails now and then and comments on my blog and artwork, but i'm always lying to her about being clean which I hate doing, but i do it alot i guess.
 
When I was two years old my parents left me unattended in the front seat of a Buick station-wagon. We lived at the end of a very steep road on the
side of a mountain. As fate would have it, I got the car out of gear, headed down the hill, and wrecked it in a ravine. I was taken to the local hospital
where after I got some stitches on my chin I was allowed to go home.

At some point during my nap, I suddenly found myself in a tunnel. At one end of the tunnel there was a bright light. At the other end of the tunnel there
was a beautiful, really nice lady in white. The lady told me that I had to decide whether I wanted to go with her, or whether I wanted to go out past the
bright light. She radiated loving-kindness. She said, "I will always be here for you.". I decided to make my way to the light at the end of the tunnel. As I
moved into the light, I noticed the delicious smell of Sunday dinner cooking, and I heard the voices of my family members talking from the kitchen down the hallway.
I never really thought much of it until years later. Having had a serious alcohol problem for many years, I have encountered the lady a couple of times since.
I guess on these later occasions it has been my sense of a loss of innocence that has compelled me to hastily retreat from her. She was kind, and warm, and welcoming
on these latter occasions as well.
 
I'm not sure how close I was to dying, but apparently I overdosed on cocaine. I only remember feeling good for a few seconds and then having a panic attack (or something like it, but more intense and psychotic) moments later on the floor. Onlookers say I started convulsing and thrashing around before dropping to the floor, and one said it looked very similar to when another guy OD'd on blow and his heart stopped moments after.

Guess I got lucky. It was probably the second or third best blow I've ever had and I figured I'd shoot up 200mg. Thankfully I had a bit of tolerance and quite a bit of benzos in my system.
 
Last winter my girlfriend and I insufflated some Hydromorphone. We had a 30mg capsule of Hydromorph-Contin.

She had tried it a couple times in very low amounts (just a couple lines). That was her only prior opiate use.

And my only prior opiate use was 75 percocets a few months prior, regular use of morphine and percocets for a couple weeks the prior winter, and various codeine throughout the prior year. So I had very little tolerance.

So anyway, that night we did hydromorphone I ended up snorting ~25mg to myself (ridiculously high dose considering my little-to-know tolerance) and this was after consuming a few beers and shots of whiskey. I passed out hard, my girlfriend panicking because she went to extreme measures to wake me up but nothing worked. When I woke up I had no feeling in my left leg and foot. Completely numb. It took 3 days to get the feeling back.

On top of that I had the worst hangover from the hydro that was worse than any hangover I have ever had in my life from any substance. Constant vomiting. And that lasted nearly 48 hours.

And I have another drug-related near-death experience...

I kept redosing MDMA throughout 3 days and nights. MDMA redosing doesn't really work so I just felt cracked out for 3 days and couldn't eat or anything. No effects other than a weird physical stimulation and a fucked up weird feeling. But my friend and I just kept trying to get it to work.

Anyway, once that was over with and I passed out from AM to PM. I woke up to go and make a snack because I hadn't eaten more than some chips in the past 3 days. However, when I got up I got a rush to my head like when you "get up too quick" that was extremely bad due to my malnutrition. My vision was blakced out and I had impaired motor control and ended up falling down 10 stairs in my house, flying over the stairs as if I dove over them, landing right on my head.

I was hospitalized for a few weeks with a traumatic brain injury (an epidural hematoma). I believe it was 8 fractures I had in my skull too lol.

Quite the events!

Took two doses of poppy tea once and was pretty sick for the following two days

Probably had a heart attack after combining a MAOI with amphetamine (stupid me)
