I have been using drugs since I was a few days shy of 16. I'm now nearly 18 years old, and I've done pretty much any drug you can name. I've binged on methamphetamine, MDMA, methylone, and lots of other stimulants a lot over the two years I've abused drugs. I have pretty much quit using drugs, and I've noticed it takes me a little longer to learn things than it did before I started using. My short term memory also seems extremely damaged sometimes; I'll walk into a room to something and completely forget what I was doing, or I'll forget what I just read at the end of the page of a book.

I'm severely limiting my usage and I'm leading a much healthier lifestyle than I was when I was using drugs. I eat healthy and I exercise frequently. Will my memory and learning ability ever return to normal if I abstain from drugs long enough?

because you are only 18 your brain and body are still able to regenerate and should you spend the next couple of years abstaining from drugs, exercising, and eating healthy your body and mind will likely make a full recovery

Permanent changes? Sure.. Every experience you have causes permanent changes.

I wouldn't call it damage though, nothing that wont sort itself out though.

Trust me.. My past drug use sounds a lot like yours.. probably worse.

Agree with tacky, you should recover fairly quickly if you stop using drugs and live healthy.

I'll walk into a room to something and completely forget what I was doing, or I'll forget what I just read at the end of the page of a book.

This could be ADHD or stim withdrawals, it isn't necessarily brain damage. I honestly doubt you did any serious damage.

Good luck :)

I don't think you have done permanent damage OP, i have also abused MDMA and was on a year comedown but recovered after. If you would like a quick recovery, stay away from drugs and live a very healthy lifestyle::diet exercise etc. I do believe that our bodies are amazing in healing itself overtime and im basing that on my experience. I have heard good things about gingko biloba extract and creatinine to help boost concentration and memory so if you get a chance, research more into these supplements and see what will work out for you.

Amphetamines are neurotoxic at least if you binge on them, you'll probably recover a chemical balance over time but I think the cells stay dead in most parts of the brain.

You are just 18 years of age, so it can possible for you to recover your body. Best way to recover your body is that you must adopt healthy life and start eating healthy, and start taking natural supplement which helps to keep your body healthy and fit, you just try to stay away drugs and other harmful substance from your body.
