i have bought a bottle of 5-htp. this gets taken, crosses the blood brain barrier and is hydrolysed by vitamine B6. tyrosine or l-dopa also do this. (i have tyrosine also). i have also heard that people taking l-dopa like parkinsons patients cant take more than their GDA of b6. and its generally advised not to for people taking 5-htp and tyrosine anywayz because it just reacts in the blood before reaching the brain so becomes dopamine and seratonin which cant cross the barrier

on my bottle of 5-htp in the ingredients

each capsule contains:
niacin: 5mg NE 31% of GDA
vitamine B6 396% of GDA
5htp 50mg --

wtf! i've been sold 5htp that doesn't even do its bloody job! pretty damn expensive aswell. anyone suggest why they might bother?
thanks

what are you talking about? vitamin B6 is needed to convert the 5htp into serotonin.

I'm not sure EXACTLY what you're asking but I don't see any reason to speculate about why the company did this and I don't see any basic harm reduction questions about use of recreational substances here so I'm going to close this. If you have any questions then feel free to private message me.
