My doctor is really pushing me to start Intuniv. He says he thinks I have anxiety and it would really help. I read about it and it says it works on norepinephrine and dopamine???? Is it going to sedate me? Thanks for your help guys!

NOTE: I am also on 70 mg vyvanse and 10 mg adderall a day.

idk i'd like to try it..could be awesome, you never know lol.

Plus i always get anxiety on adderall, i wonder if my doc would give me this so i don't have to take 2mgs of xanax with my addy.

Does he want you to take it with the Vyvanse and Adderall or to replace them?

I haven't taken it but I know a bit about it. Sedation is a common side effect. But if you're on that much Vyvanse and Adderall that may counteract the sedation.

I don't know if it actually works on norepinephrine and dopamine, Intuniv (ER guanfacine) is an alpha-2A adrenergic receptor agonist. Beyond that the mechanism of action is not really understood.

How old are you? Studies found it effective for ADHD in children but not in teens or adults [source]. But perhaps your doctor's idea is that it would complement and reduce side effects from the stimulants you are taking? For example it can lower blood pressure, reduce anxiety, help with insomnia, etc.

I'm 23. Thank you for your post that was very helpful. He wants me to take it with the Vyvanse and Adderall. I was mainly wondering if it would make me more sedated, focused, or what.

Guanfacine, works for opioid withdrawal just like clonidine. It works on the same receptors as clonidine.
I have personally used Guanfacine for withdrawl and can attest to its effectiveness.
