Has anybody here gotten LASIK surgery?

randycaver, a friend with very similar vision to yours has looked into getting lasik done a year ago. The risk of retinal detachment does not change, from what she's been told. Also, the surgery would not have given her perfect vision, but would rather give her something like -2, give or take, so she would still have to wear glasses, but would be able to get around and actually make out details without glasses better than now. Right now, she has to bring her face to within a few inches of yours to be able to make out your eyes, nose, etc.

nobody can tell you if you are a candidate for lasik other than a board-certified (very important) laser vision correction surgeon doctor captain smart-man. alls i'm sayin's is just go get a consultation appointment. they're free at most places and the worst they'll tell you is you're not a candidate.

i can't say anything about the retinal detachment, other than i know it sucks. my mom got elbowed in the eye by this fat girl jessica in my girl scout's meeting one night and her retina detached a couple years later. but yeah, i'm not a doctor, yo. it'd definitely be a thing to ask during your consultation...
