Has anybody given up the needle?

^ Me too, although I only ever used IM. Now I've substituted rectal use for IM use, I don't get any urge to do anything with needles. I did try an expt with low doses of 5-methoxy DMT a while ago, but that was the limit of my use in the last year
 
Everyone I know that stopped shooting only did so cause they blew out all their veins. My exgirlfriend only sniffed dope, as does my friend, my brother only sniffed when he relapsed, but hes in NgAy now.
I have tried to snort cause I didn't have a rig, but the high isn't strong enough cause im on methadone.
 
I don't know how relevant this is, but I'll post it anyways...

As with many people, I find that I.V. Ketamine, Cocaine, and Morphine (or heroin, but morphine especially) to be far more superior than with any other method. I love being overwhelmed in a good way. I also love, as you said Ketamike, the sight of blood when I register and the taste, et al.

I had only started experimenting with the needle in the beginning of this year, and although I had overcome my fear from the needle (and developed the love described above), I still am too scared to be injecting regularly.

So to sum up, while I did inject, many times, and I do enjoy it a LOT (that is, when I don't miss :P), I will still use other methods of administration (mostly rectal) say 9 out of every 10 times I use.
 
The last time I did heroin I smoked it, then found $20 on street. I guess that gave me some incentive to stay away from the spike.
 
i recently just started slamming dope. i used to hate needles when i was a little kid i would run from the doctor when i had to get shots. even in highschool when i had to get the rest of my hepatitis shots i still was terrified didnt run but kept rescheduling my appointments just soo i wouldnt have to go.

then once i was introduced to heroin, needles dont bother me anymore at all. in fact its the only way i like to do dope. sniffing dope to me feels kinda dirtier to me(the effects of sniffing it) when i shoot dope to me it feels like a much cleaner high
 
Oh YES!

Man, I gave it up,I didnt think I would EVER... I destroyed all my veins. I switched my obsession to something else..
If you dont you'll definitely OD again.

Damn I CAN'T give up the spike.
I would rather give up Opiates (and switch to IV benzos only) than giving up the needle....
When (it happens VERY rarely) I have no Opiate/Opioid nor Benzos around, I shoot antihistamines.
I have to shoot something ~5 to 6 times a day.
And it's been the case for 2 years and a half.....

As Ketamike said, I find it is beautiful everytime I shoot. I talk about the syringe piercing your skin, the feeling it gives, then hitting the vein, the blood flowing (I think W. Burroughs compares it to a beautiful red orchid that expands in the syringe), and shooting.
I don't know, it's almsot sexual to me.

In any situation, if the substance I'm about to use can potentially be IVed for greater effects...I IV it for greater effects. Haven't been able to do otherwise since the first time I pierced my skin.
 
when i first used i snorted. a few months later i shot it for a while. then i went back to snorting and then back to shooting where i stayed.

the reason i went back to sniffing after shooting was simply because i sucked at shooting up.
why i went back to shooting up? practice, and the rush, more economical.
I didn't fall in love with shooting until i was in real deep with my addiction.
 
i switched from iv herion to methadone.. i was still jonsin for the spike i shot coke a couple times for a few weeks till that scared the shit outta me... havent ived in almost a year
 
I find that with IV.. once you do it, you cross that path that cannot be turned back. You reach this sensational high, and its the yardstick that you use for all future highs.
 
I quit! After realizing that the whole point is trying to get to the border of life and death for that buzz and watching a few friends go down the tubes I had enough.
Now I'm just waiting until one of my buddies dies and I have to go to his funeral. Just a matter of time. I've got quite a few dead friends. If that's the last image you want to leave on earth for the family and friends... just keep on going, you'll get there. You're only one shot away at any given moment.

On the other hand, the urge will pass. Just go see a shrink or doctor and get stabilized on something else for awhile. then get a hobby. become a slut instead of a fuck!
 
after trying IV i coudlnt go back to snorting it, it feels like a waste. plus i was going through so much $ while blowing it, IV saved me monety at first. but after a while it became expensive. im on suboxone now but when i do buy dope, i always bang it. its the only way.

On a thread that is supposed to gather all the people who gave up the needle, there are almost only people that tell you they will never give in.

If you ask to these people, they will tell you that before shooting for the first time, they were sure they would never become needle addicts.

So learn from this, you who have never shot anything, and who is thinking about trying it once....
