Ever played a game and there's some puzzle that you have to solve in order to progress the story? And it's, like, fucking impossible to figure out so you have to find a walkthrough. This thread is to bitch about those.

I got two off the top of my head:

Silent Hill 1 - The Piano Puzzle
You got a piano this piano and you have to hit notes in a certain order. But your only clue is this cryptic poem that makes no fucking sense. I spent 40 minutes trying to figure it out before I was like "fuck it", let's go to gamefaqs.

The Coconut Puzzle - Escape From Monkey Island
I don't know how anyone could possibly figure this one out on their own. You have to throw coconuts in these different holes in a certain order AND you have to time them right. You don't get any clues. There are some visual clues as to when to throw the next one but they are useless if you don't know the order. Hardest. puzzle. ever.

good thread

Kings Quest V - The Desert

Just with your examples, a specific sequence needs to be guessed. this game requires you to walk through a desert one screen at a time choosing to go north, south, east or west, with each screen looking essentially the same. finding oasis or temple in this manner was ridiculous.

The original version of Quest for Glory 2 was similar. Damn that was hard, but an enjoyable game none the less :)

I actually got stuck on that one and my GF at the time, who was pretty good w/ poetry, helped me figure it out.....After that she was pretty hooked on the game w/ me....was awesome

It had something to do w/ the color of the birds (white or black) representing a certain note and color of the keys....

7th guest was the bomb. I definitely used the help function on a lot of those puzzles. Why don't you stay a while, STAY FOREVER!

Not video, but computer. Back the day, Myst could get pretty crazy hard.

Yeh, i loved Myst as well, great game.

Return to Zork
Zork Nemesis
Zork Grand Inquisitor
Zork: The Undiscovered Underground

I never played much of the older Zork series.

That was the VERY FIRST thing I thought about when I saw this thread.

And yes, I followed the exact same course of action.

Oh man I played the part with that puzzle with a load of friends and I was the one that got it. I was so proud =D

Can't think of any hard puzzles offhand. There was a lighting up squares puzzle in KotOR that stumped me for a while. Just ran round randomly til I got it. Controls didn't help much.

Broken Sword 2. It was on the Playstation. You start off in a room on fire and you have to escape and that took me an hour. That was just a fraction of the game so i just gave up. Frustation got the better of me.
