Hey guys! I joined here a few months ago but haven't been around much for a while so I am back. I joined when I switched from Methadone to Suboxone and I wrote about that experience in a thread. But anyways, I wonder if someone could help me with a dilemma I am having.
I started on 8mgs of Suboxone, and tapered myself down to 1mg/day on my own. I still get the 8mg pills, which I try to cut as evenly as possible into 8 pieces. It is a little difficult to do this exact every time because I do not have a scale so I pretty much just have to eyeball it. Well now I am trying to get myself down to half a milligram. This is proving to be very difficult for me. I start to withdrawal before 24 hours has even gone by (usually between the 14-18 hours after my dose, and therefore couldn't sleep). I have actually switched to taking my doses at night now because I can deal with it a little better when I am not trying to sleep. Is that too much of a jump down at the amount I am on? I know the lower you get that your body reacts more to the change. Should I try to get to 3/4 of a milligram first? Can I even possibly measure that without having to invest in a scale? Also, does anyone know if there are benefits if I were to split my dose? Or would that just be dumb? I mean that question in the sense of would it keep off the withdrawal and still be able to taper. I am ready to get off this stuff. I was addicted for ten years to heroin and fentanyl (never got clean on my own or from rehab except for three days, twice). I went to Methadone clinic for three years when I was ready to leave the addiction behind, now I am on these Subs. I feel that I have had enough "clean" time to get off the Subs now. I have had plenty of time away from the lifestyle to make it I believe. Anyone have any suggestions? Thanks so much. You guys are always helpful.
