Hope you lovely people are enjoying a lovely Caturday. It's quite a pretty one to be had! Personally, I am enjoying just that little bit more extra sleep then it's away with me to work!

I would however love to hear of great Caturday plans and tales from those of you lucky enough enjoy the day!! Make it a good one people!

 
Going to see the bed at Tate Britain. Bet it's got nowt on mine (take that, Emin)
 
I can't stand modern art! Shambles once took me to the modern art gallery in Glasgow, Even he had to admit that it was shite! He's a man of good taste so I'm simply assuming that the particular exhibits on offer at the time were exceptionally shite or I am right, Modern art is SHITE! Time will only tell.

Enjoy your day at the Tate though Spud! Pics of anything good you see!!! I would love to see some decent modern art! xx

Right, I'm off. Doubt I'll be able to grab any pics without being wrestled to the ground by a YBA henchman, but we'll see ;)

"Modern Art" is such a wide spectrum of different stuff, that I think it's daft to say it's all shit. It isn't.

However, the last time I went to GoMA, I was annoyed by some of the stuff there too. One "installation" was a handrail set into the wall, tapering gradually closer to the wall until the point that you couldn't get your hand on it. Stuff like that annoys me and made me start taking the piss, standing looking at fire extinguishers etc. as if they were also meant to be "art".

We have an art gallery just round the corner here, and some of the modern art exhibitions are total nonsense. But some of them are brilliant.

I've visited the Tate Modern in London while tripping rather hard on LSD. That was a strange experience and it was difficult to figure out what was an exhibit and what wasn't. :D

No, I'll agree with you that the blanket dislike is very much ignorant. I'm simply going by experience. Said as much to Sham hence him taking me to the modern art gallery in Glasgow. He was not able to prove his point. That is not to say that his point isn't valid he simply wasn't able to give me an example due to the current exhibition on offer. It was loads of photos of colonialism. Informative but not what I would think of as art. No one goes to a history lesson thinking " my this is great art"
 
Ach. Just like listening to the radio, when you go to exhibitions you've got to take the rough with the smooth. No-one will like everything. It's all part of life's rich tapestry. ;)

Tell me about it. I wasnt tripping, but I just encountered a lady passed out drunk in the middle of the road round the corner from the Tate. I had to wake her up and get her out of harms way. That was a challenging installation =D.

That was a resident artist. She was challenging your assumptions about homelessness and alcoholism. Or something. ;)

But yeah, back to that Tate acid trip. There were a bunch of people down in the turbine hall (about 200 hundred feet down), putting polystyrene cubes onto a conveyor belt, and at the other end there was a chipper machine, making them into polystyrene chips, being collected into bags. Lorries were collecting them periodically. It never ended. We seriously thought it was a piece of performance art.

But in hindsight, it was just a bunch of employees breaking down the last huge installation they'd had. TRIPPY AS FUCK. 8(
 
99% of art is ok, nothing special.

I guess that's why they call it 'fine art'..:(

I've been staring at Bantry Bay and strolling around.

I got asked if I wanted anything in my (generous) double whiskey. I said no thanks, the landlady winked and then said 'what about another one?'. FOC. I fucking love that bar.
