She waters down your drinks when she thinks you aren’t looking
You take long pulls straight from the bottle when her back is turned
She leaves the water and the pain pills by the bed
She runs five miles before the AM is done
You sleep until three in the afternoon
She writes the checks and mails the bills
She gets the groceries and your cigarettes
You work a shit job you hate
She vacuums the floors and cleans the bathrooms
She empties the ashtrays and washes the dishes

She makes the excuses and apologies
You talk shit and yell obscenities across the bar
She calls her family and friends

She repeats herself over and over
