Alcohol Hand sanitizer-is it safe

I made some booze out of hand sanitizer by mixing it with salt and dumping out the salt
its like 120 proof

I read that it's safe and then it's not idk what to believe

Main question can I get wasted on it without dying
 
Have you seen the ingredients in the stuff? Mixing with salt is the first part, you would then still have to distill the stuff.

IF the hand sanitizer was made from Ethyl alcohol and you managed to remove the gel, distill it and remove the other contaminants then you 'could' drink it - however some companies are aware of this so are using denatured alcohol which can make you seriously ill (intentionally to stop people from drinking it).

IF your still going to go ahead with this then remember its pretty much pure alcohol so don't drink a lot of it in one go.

Check what type of alcohol is being used, distill it, don't drink loads of it at once and treat as a strong liquor.

(will you die? It is certainly a possibility if you ingest a toxic substance or too much alcohol) Can you not just buy some beers ?
 
You would have to assess the safety of each ingredient, and make sure that you remove all the toxic ingredients before drinking it. If it contains methanol or isopropanol, do not drink it.
 
Why can't you just get a bottle of high proof liquor???

Bacardi 15 would do the trick just fine without all the risk..
 
You didn't make "booze", you made poison. That is isopropyl alcohol, you want ethyl alcohol to get drunk. I believe the ispropyl is not actually that toxic, but the liver converts it to a toxic substance and too much will do no more than kill you. A moderate amount will do no more than be unhealty for you.

edit: yeah it appears to be metabolized into acetone in the liver.
 
Um, no. Please do not do this. You're better off chugging mouthwash. (But don't do that either)

So what, you're family ran out of Zoloft to steal? :)
 
Wow, after I thought I had heard everything, cough syrup, benzedrex, huffing spray cans, and now how to get blitzed off mouth wash. If you seriously are trying to get drunk off of hand sanitizer, you need to get help. If you do this, your probably going to go blind or cause serious organ damage. Get help from somewhere please.
 
No, hand sanitizer is made with denatured alcohol usually. It's not a good idea to drink it, it might not kill you, but it will taste awful.

SD alcohol 40B has denatronium benzoate (Bitrex) and t-butyl alcohol added. There are other formulations that have other bitterants/toxicants added. Read the ingredients and look the specific type of alcohol up.

Hand sanitizer is meant to santize hands, not to drink. Go get some vodka or something.
