Has anyone else here ever had hallucinations after an extended period of not eating or drinking? I had this happen to me recently at a mental institution. They gave me ativan to relax me and seroquel to conk me out. I'm not sure how much was hallucination and what might have been dreams.

I think I read somewhere that people severely nutrition/hydration deficient from kidney disease or other conditions can have hallucinations (I don't think that's what this was). And that people dying have hallucinations of other people or animals. I saw a lot of bugs, cats, and other things. It wasn't actually scary. Kinda cool.

Have you ever read, or seen the film adaptation of, What Dreams May Come?

When you experience psychosis WITHOUT taking hallucinogenic drugs and you have hallucinations, life is an experience that is very similar to the artistic depictions in that story, both the terrifying and the beautiful parts of the art.

See that's kind of part of the problem, you can't exactly control it.
You, can micromanage it at best but, eventually, you're gonna need help.
