Hello to everyone at bluelight. I have been browsing the forum for many years and have obtained bounties of useful information about consumption of chemicals and how to stay as safe as possible while doing it. I'm a biology major and am about to graduate, but my true interest is organic chemistry and neuropharmacology. I plan to return to school post graduation.
I have personally consumed several psychedelics, including several of the 2c family, MDMA and MDA (which I personally include in the psychedelic family) along with mushrooms, DMT, LSD, and 4-AcO-DMT. My dissociative experience includes ketamine, methoxetamine, 3-MeO-PCP, N2O, and DXM. I have used a wide range of pharmaceuticals including methylphenidate and amphetamine, along with various opiate painkillers, and benzodiazepines and other tranquilizers. Not to mention, some very unfortunate and misguided experiments during my teenage years with SSRIs, tricyclics, anticholinergics, and several others that evade my memory. Street drug use includes heroin, methamphetamine, cocaine (HCl and freebase), and marijuana. And of course, alcohol, which is probably my personal favorite psychoactive due not only to its effects, but to other attributes of the chemical as well. There are probably several others but I feel this list sums up my drug experience appropriately.
At this point in my life, my consumption is limited to alcohol (frequently but rarely to the point of heavy drunkenness), psychedelics (~2-4 times yearly), disociatives (1-2 times per month at most), prescription stimulants (frequently in low doses, as I am currently in my senior year of college with a heavy work load), and benzos (3-4 times per month max). I do not like marijuana and I rarely smoke it. Opiates are too dangerous for me to desire their continued use in my life and, though I've never been severely addicted, they have taken too much from me emotionally and mentally for me to consider the high worth it; however euphoric it may be. Stimulants and benzos I typically reserve for what I consider "functional" purposes, like getting work done with uppers or getting to sleep with benzos. I consider my use of alcohol, psychedelics, and dissociatives recreational, though oftentimes psychedelics (and even dissociatives to a lesser degree) are intensely spiritual and have provided me with many transformative experiences.
I joined the forum because I have reached a point where some of my questions have not been answered by anyone on bluelight, nor have I been able to find answers on the web. Many of these involve things like binding affinities, chemistry of psychoactives, and neurotransmitter/receptor properties. I hope to contribute even just a fraction of the knowledge that I have gained here in my time "lurking" through various threads. Any advice on how to best utilize this resource would be greatly appreciated.
