When talking about half-life, do you talk about the length of the high? I mean, if Xanax has a half-life of say 10 hours, how long does the high last? 4 hours? There seems to be a point where the high just isnt that good anymore, even though there is still plenty of drugs in your blood.
Am I making any sense?

half-life simply refers to the amount of time it takes for half of the amount of the drug you've taken to be eliminated from your body...
so if you take 2mg of Xanax and its half-life is 12 hrs, then 1mg would be left after 12hrs.
The "high" or peak of a drug's effects is usually much shorter in duration than the half-life.

Not a big thing, but half like works like this.....10 mg with 10 hour half life.
In 10 hours you have 5 mg.....10 hours after that you have 2.5mg.....10 hours from that you have 1.25. So if Xanax has a half life of 10 hours, it will be in your system for a long time. Your brain gets used to drugs fairly quickly, so like the post said, the high is much shorter, although the terapudic effect may work for a much longer time.
