I am currently taking Loratab 7.5 / 325, ambien CR 12.5, Gabapenton 300 mg (3 times a day) for a sever back / leg injury.
I have an appt tomarrow morning and will be getting all of my meds refilled however having radiofrequency nerve ablation on monday I have been eating my loratabs like candy and have ran out.

I am in severe pain at this moment (vomiting) and a close friend offered me half of a 15mg roxi. I have done my share of opioids in my past but not trying to get high (ive actually been drinking a little) and have to get up early for this appt.
My question is, will this mess me up to bad. As stated, not trying to get high but just ease the pain but am not sure if the alcohol and other meds will interact with it to bad as its been a VERY long time since ive taken anything i was not prescribed.
Will it be similar to the pain meds ive had to take every day, as in just a little relief, or will it be more like when i was in high school and took 40 mg oxicottons?

and again tricomb. 7.5mg is a fairly low dose.

sorry for doublepost. fucking ancient notebook.

also, anyone who's in moderate to severe pain should thank the gods that they don't live in germany, the most painful ordeal of my life, getting three sinews pieced together (no not sewn) netted me 4x100mg tramadol a day. i mean, they could just told me to fuck off and buy aspirin for all the good it did me.

OP, you may want to get more than a half if you need to make it til tomorrow afternoon (and you're out of lortabs?)

Not sure if this is HR advice or not, but good luck!

also, i never get why they still give out gabapentin for manual injuries.
"here, you've been hit in the head with a bat, have a sumatriptan."

Half of a 15 mg roxicodone (oxycodone IR) would equal 7.5 mg oxycodone, which is equipotent to roughly 11.25 mg hydrocodone, which one and a half of your Lortab 7.5's would contain. In other words, half of a roxi 15 would be about as strong as one and a half Lortab 7.5. I must warn you mixing CNS depressants such as alcohol, zolpidem, and gabapentin with opiates, whether it is hydrocodone or oxycodone, can be potentially dangerous. Because you are prescribed the zolpidem and gabapentin, I would not worry if you are taking those in prescribed doses and the opiates in prescribed doses, BUT mixing alcohol along with opiates, zolpidem, and gabapentin is not a good idea as it makes for an even more synergistic CNS depressant combination. Another danger is drinking with Lortab, in general, because of the APAP in Lortab. Both APAP and alcohol are toxic to the liver, and throwing both at your liver, esp. at once is not a good idea, even in low doses of either. In short, adding alcohol to the situation is quite dangerous, and in more than one way. I would wait until the alcohol is mostly worn off to take the roxicodone, and start with just a quarter, not the whole half if you are not feeling too sedated. Though this is not much, it is always best to start low and go slow. If, in another hour or so, you do not feel too sedated and need the pain relief, I think taking the other quarter of the pill would be fine. Again, though, wait until the alcohol has cleared your system. And, when you do get another Lortab script, don't drink at all on it, because of the dangers to your liver.

Wow, you guys are amazing. Bad news though, my friend could not make it over here so im kinda screwed. I have no idea what to do! The pain is so bad I can't even concentrate and haven't even bothered touching my second beer.

I am currently taking the above medications (minus the loratab) but also have some cyclobenzaprine that I was prescribed for the spasms i had when I first had the procedure done. . . but nothing seems to be working. I know acetaminophen is a big hit on the liver and honestly dont even think I have anything else besides the diclofenac they gave me a couple of months ago. I have no idea what to do to get rid of this pain.

Thank all of you guys so much for the fast and specific input. Any ideas?

You have about less than 24 hours of hell to endure, am I right?

I have a suggestion for the future, it won't help you now. Don't take your pain medication every X hours, take it as needed. If the way you currently take them works for you then don't change a thing, but if there is any way you can set aside doses you don't use, and put them in a specially marked bottle for use in emergencies like this, it's saved my ass on many occasions being a chronic pain patient.

Have you ever taken clonidine before? It reduces my physical symptoms of WD by up to 50%.

I would try to relax as best you can and focus yourself on something other than the pain. I know this is easier said than done. Have you currently been taking your meds as prescribed, and/or anything else or at different doses? Have you taken your Ambien CR recently, if so when? And how much alcohol did you consume, and when? I know these are a lot of questions, but I want to know exactly what you took so I can make an informed suggestion if I can. Also, how long will it be until you get your meds refilled?

As a chronic back pain/surgeraty patient, I would recommend taking an NSAID with your muscle relaxer (flexeril) until you get your next pain medication script. Personally I always turn to naproxen or ibuprofen but if you have a prescribed NSAID go with that (toradol, celebrex, arthrotec).

Good luck OP its just a few more hours!

Go to the store and buy some Immodium AD (loperamide). They come in 2mg tablets, take like 10 of them (20mg) and you will be fine until tomorrow.

15mg oxy? Damn. That's nothing for a serious injury. my friend had a similar injury and they just loaded him up with narcotics. morphine, oxy, dillys...it was honestly a little ridiculous. Buut I didnt complain when I got free pills.

Let me say this, and every word of it is 100% truth.

I just kicked a 250mg/day Oxy habit.

Do you know what my initial doses were way back in the beginning, that persisted for months? 5mg. No bullshit. 5mg when I was opiate naive FUCKED ME UP. Even though you take Hydrocodone already, I'd still take nothing more than 7.5mg as you shouldn't need more to that. I remember when I first progressed to a quarter of a Roxi, I thought I made the big leagues. *hardcore missing the times Oxy was fun and cheap and I could stop any time with no ill effects*

Isn't it crazy how Dr's just, like fucking fling, narcotics at people with injuries? I have a ruptured disk, 3 herniated discs, degenerative disk disease over my entire spine, and all the nerves that feed into my legs are impacted by the discs, and I had doctors literally bombarding me with different opiate scripts over the course of a year that I've been in pain management. It's likely my Oxy dependence wouldn't have become so high (so quickly, at least) if I didn't enter pain management.

But conversely, I've been in severe pain. So the fun is dampered always by the fact that I actually need the medication.
