halcion vs. seconal

I disagree, because I met someone on this site who got prescribed seconal. It happens. You'd be surprised.

For HR reasons; get Halcion, you won't OD and die from it. Seconal has killed tons of celebrities, it's not worth risking your life over a barb high.
Yeah I'm sure Seconal was implicated in the deaths of Judy Garland, and other Barbiturates had something to do with the death of Marilyn Monroe etc..

big lol at that. :-D
in the uk barbs are only prescribed on a named patient basis (i think). meaning only a small percentage of patients get them. mainly people who have been dependant for years or a small amount of people who cant tolerate other meds or get no benefit from other meds.
i dont think primary care givers can prescribe it though, likely would need to be signed off by a specialist after consultation. I know this is the case with sodium oxybate and this is really only prescribed for narcolepsy or/with cataplexy and is very strict in this regard.
dont know if any of that settles any debate but i enjoyed sharing.lol

^ That's how it pretty much is everywhere, for treatment resistant conditions. Unless you're seeing a corrupt doctor.

what about halcion?

Triazolam is apparently superior to secobarbital for the treatment of insomnia.1 Its effectiveness for insomnia is largely lost after two weeks according to one study (while flurazepam remained effective for four weeks+),2 3 similar stuff to be found about triazolam compared to quazepam (another longer acting one, like flurazepam).4 5

Of course we can find something saying the opposite of all this too (also this one used a higher dose of barbs,6 of course that just means it might take a little longer for them to start losing activity, since their doing so has been shown in other studies),7 but here's more saying flurazepam beat pentobarbital,8 and secobarbital.9

What I can find indicates that flurazepam is a good option for long term treatment of insomnia,10 better at maintaining effectiveness than quazepam for that matter.11 The data didn't say anything too flattering about temazepam in comparison to those longer acting ones either.

Harsh drugs

I was Rx'd Xanax, Meprobamate and Halcion about 3 years ago. Halcion tolerance developed quickly on me also to the point were I would take 1mg a night but it got fishy to the pharmies so I switched to Seconal about 2 years ago. Marathon pharmaceuticals makes it. I was on it for 2 years 200-300mg a night- it blows any benzo and prolly most sedatives out of the water. There is way more euphoria with it and it kicks in real fast (they are orange now not red btw). It is also very very expensive if you ever manage to find a pharmacy that agrees to carry it. When it came time to get off of it IT WAS THE WORSE WD I ever experienced. Another thing to note is that being off the market for a long time, most M.D's are unfamiliar with it and don't know how to deal with WDs once you decide to get off-- which equals suffering. Some of the symptoms I had were delirium, night terrors, aphasia (I couldn't form words), 1 seizure, extreme agitation ( so much so I became violent) and many more. I spent a month in the hospital - for the most part in 4 point hard restraints. So I would say it is very effective for very short term use but NOT worth it. I would stay away it is too tempting once you get it

This might be silly, but have you tried clonidine? I've tried every benzo in the book and a couple barbituates and they merely relax me at even extreme doses. Clonidine knocks me the fuck out reliably every night. With traditional sedatives like benzos it's more like, "I feel comfortable enough to lie down, maybe I'll doze off god willing". With clondine I don't have a fucking choice. I've fallen asleep on my steel and glass desk like it was a feather pillow.

The only time it couldn't knock me out was when I was in extreme opiate withdrawal.
