Guns/Weapons Discussion

I've been around guns my whole life. I feel very comfortable with them.

At my house we keep a 12 gauge pump shotgun. You can see a picture of my wife holding it in my gallery. I think this is the perfect gun for anyone to own. It's perfect for recreation. Clay target shooting is the best fun you can have with a gun. It's ideal for most forms of hunting. It's perfect for home defense, and finally it's about as safe as a gun can get. Shells are pretty cheap to, and that's always nice.

I have access to most any other gun I would want, but this is the one I choose to have at home. I'm thinking about a rifle purchase sometime in the future, but I'm in no rush. This piece does everything I need.

do you like guns? do you think guns are bad? If you have a gun, what kind of guns is it? do you use your gun to kill people or do you just go down to the shootin range and release some aggression?

i am fascinated by guns, i think guns are great if used with responsability...
what do you guys think?

i dont currently own one. but soon will. i think with the way the world is heading, the chances of a major disaster happening that affects our power grids (america) are very high. at that point, as we saw in N.O., its everyman for himself, and if you dont have a gun you cant defend yourself from someone who does have one. so thats why i am getting one soon.

i used to be in the army, BTW. i have no excitement or thrills over guns. thankfully i never had to use one to kill anyone, thought that was the purpose of owning one in the army. i dont use one for target practice or for fun. self defense and protection pruposes only.

where I go to college, i get PAID to kill large jack rabbits and coyotes in a Ranchers grazing land. . I get $10 dollars for each jack rabbit, and 50-100 depending on the size of the coyote. .

both are over populated, the jack rabbits dig holes in the ground that can brake a cow, or horses leg. the coyotes eat small cattle not to mention i've seen other coyotees eating ANOTHER baby coyotee!!

they are nasty overpopulated animals, and after your first few kills you actually become quite attached to becoming a "hunter" . . it feels natural and good .. kinda like a natual high you might say.

considering jack-rabbits can dodge bullets ! (i have seen this many a time) and coyotees can smell your ass from a mile away, it is not easy at all.

as far as armaments go. I use an SKS (kind of like an AK) made in Yugoslavia. it comes with a large sturdy bayonet, a 22 mm grenade launcher, and shoots a 7.62X39 round. it has a ten round magazine attached to the rifle; and you must use stripper clips to reload fast. I am a very good shot with it, and now I even use it against the rabbits too; as opposed to only the dogs.

I also have a double barrel shotgun 12 gauge. two .22 pistols one single action revolver, and one automatic.

I have an old german mauser. a russian mausin-nougent (something like that) which are both bolt action.

I am building a very rare CZ-58 (copy of an ak47 in cz) but it might be too expensive.

I love guns, I believe they are fun and useful, and should be bought as quickly as possible before the liberalls outlaw everything.

Mosin-nagant not a bad rifle btw.

cant choose next gun.....
]] Thinkin about getting smaller round with less noice. my house in CA, is having its garden demolished by little cotton tail jack rabbits.

I just bought a pistol crossbow (the nice brand) . . and Im thinking about like a .22 or 17 hmr. rifle or pistol for shooting all rabits includig "haeirs" for sport!

Might just savve up on money i coud go strait for the Glock with the xpanded barrel. i dunno.. i have my CCW in UT, but im not 21 yt!

Guns don't kill people....BULLETS kill people. yeah.
Negative, gaping holes in vital organs kill people.

:p

Edit: whats up with the smileys?

I want to get a 9mm pistol. or something smallish caliber. maybe even .22.

I like those Ruger Mark Pistols series. They make very attractive pistols and shoot nice too.

<<I have an old german mauser. >>

That's one to be proud of.

I have mixed feelings about guns, in general--I can and do admire their workmanship, heft, and history, but have no interest in owning one.

Guns don't kill people, Introspection kills people.

I have a .40 cal H&K USP
a .40 Glock 22
a Mossberg Pump 12 gauge
and the best gun in the world - a 10-22 rifle.

I had an SKS for a while, but it really wasn't my style.

I don't ever shoot them anymore, I used to be able to shoot in my backyard, now you go to jail for discharging a firearm within my county (Palm Beach, Florida)

I should sell the handguns just because I am married now and will someday have kids.

The Shotgun is excellent for home protection, and you would have to work really hard to shoot yourself with it (wife). The 10 .22 I will probably give to my son (after I have a son). I got my first .22 rifle when I was 10. I think it came from JC Penney.

I dont go anywhere without at least a knife, but anyway I dont own a gun atm but I have owned quite a few in my time. Its fun to just go bust a few caps, in an urban setting or out on the farm.

I use a Sig Arms P229R DAK .40 at work but recently aquired a .380 made by Bersa... I wasn't expecting much from a budget piece but I'm absolutely impressed. Simple as fuck to strip, plenty of features found in more expensive brands, reliable (so far), feels perfect in my small hands and easy to conceal. I'm really happy and would recommend- it's a solid semi-auto and an outstanding value. My only gripe is no rubber grips at this point.

I like .22's as well, cute little plinkers.

ok . so shooting jack-rabbits with an AK round is pretty difficult.
not to mention the hicks where I shoot don't really like seeing an assault rifle being used anywhere in "cowboy" country.

i need a good varmint rifle. but im on a budget. a need something bigger than a .22 . I was thinking along the lines of .17 HMR or a .22 Mag .... what do you think?

Laws banning guns only take the guns out of the peoples hands that should be able to own them; responsible, law abiding citizens. Do you think Criminals say "Hey we can't get guns! Thats against the law!"? No. Thats why they are criminals. There is no need to be scared of a gun. Are you scared of your kitchen knives? Or how about your car? Both are things that need to be handled with responsibility. With the right education you do not fear your knife or your car because you learned how to hold the knife when your cutting, and how not to smash into people when driving. Same with a gun. A responsible gun owner learns all he can about gun safety and then passes that along whenever possible so as to reduce accidents. Speaking of accidents, it would be interesting to see the ratio of gun accidents to car accidents.

The gun is just a tool. How it is used it dependent upon the user. To me it is just to simple. Its along the lines of "locks only keep honest people out."

Lets say all guns were legal to be carried while concealed. If I were a criminal on the street I would be a lot more hesitant to try and stick someone up knowing that even a law abiding citizen might have a gun. But If I am a criminal and carrying a concealed weapon is against the law I can pretty much be assured that if I attack a law abiding citizen that they will have no means to defend themselves against my illegal gun that I carry because I have no regard for the law.

Your analogy sucks.

There is no need to be scared of a gun. Are you scared of your kitchen knives? Or how about your car? Both are things that need to be handled with responsibility.

Cars and knives have functions in our society. Guns do not.

Certainly there are people who enjoy guns. I'd hate to rob them of such a passion, but I'd be willing to trade that freedom for a gunless society.
