Guns/Weapons Discussion

Christian Soldier It also isn't that hard.

I have two AK's. Wish I could afford more, and I wish I couuld find a nice old-school Red China model. I bought mine after the assault weapons ban went bye bye.

I also own a Kel-Tek p11 for CC for in town. I used to have a Glock 26, which was my first gun, but I used it for trade on one of the AKs.

I'm pretty familiar with guns, I just think it's kind of ridiculous to use even a semi-automatic weapon for hunting.

I've shot an AK before....sexy looking gun but it damn near knocked me on my assI didn't like shooting it at all. Scared me:(

an AK carries a .308 round, which is used for hunting deer.

and I think the other one carries a .223, which can also be used to hunt deer.

They're similar bullets to the 30-6 which is primarily used to hunt deer

I think they use the 7.62mm,

but i've also heard now that they use a 5.56mm (.223), so I don't know.

maybe they both use the same caliber bullet. I don't know

there are so many different versions of the guns that there is really no way to keep up with what everyone uses. :\

after reading this site is says the AK carries a 7.62 and the m-16 carries a 5.56 (.223 caliber) The m-14 carried a 7.62mm (.308) round. The Army has issued so many guns over the years it's impossible to keep up with them.

so maybe I just had them backwards. If this site is right, it's a good read

the bad (or good depending on the person) thing is, is that I can go online and buy almost all of these guns now that the weapons ban has been lifted.

The Govt issue M16 uses a 5.56mm NATO round. It's the same caliber as a .223 round but different. The M16 replicas you can buy take a .223 round and won't take a 5.56mm NATO round.

I think they are somewhat similar. Ask anyone that enjoys shooting at a shooting range, and I am sure they will tell you shooting a gun is somewhat euphoric.

When you first start out you suck at it, you can't hit the bullseye for anything. But later on when you shoot for a while, you get good at it. And the day that you hit the bullseye for the first time, it's a great feeling.

I think your missing my point..my point was that drugs and guns were invented for totally different things. Drugs were invented for enjoyment and to explore other areas of your mind and so on..guns were invented to kill, plain and simple.

The only thing you can compare the two are the addiction, but then that's the same with anything, cos if you like something a lot, you get addicted, fuck, why not just compare any hobby to drugs aslong as its addictive? See what i mean? Just cos its an addiction doesn't mean you can compare it to drugs. Sure you may get a high feeling of achievement after hitting the target or whatever when shooting, but that is nothing like a feeling you would get from a drug.

A lot of drugs weren't "invented" and not all of them were used originally for pleasure.

Also, I think they can be paralleled in many ways:

Both:
  • Can be deadly if used improperly.
  • Can be helpful in situations if used properly.
  • Users should be educated about their use/misuse.
  • (for the most part) are illegal without a license/prescription.
  • Have many misconceptions about their users (Guns: redneck hicks / Drugs: junkie bums on the street).

I could go on, but you get my point.

How do you mean 'werent invented'? And no your right not all of them are for pleasure..got me on that one!

But what i am saying basically is, guns are made to kill, drugs usually either give you pleasure or are for your health, thats the difference. Sure you can use guns for your own protection, but only to kill someone else.

ok I see what you mean, and agree with you on that point.

I just meant, both of them are hobbies.

the only thing I disagree with you on is that ALL guns were invented for killing. MOST are, but not all. There really are guns/bullets meant specifically for target shooting.

but YES, most of them were made for killing something. Which when they were invented, killing was essential, you either killed something or you died.

chrissie said exactly what I meant, just in a much easier way of reading...thanks for that chrissie:)

I think the correct saying for this situation is....anything is dangerous in the hands of a fool.

That site on the AK's is wrong the first edition AKs were of the standard 5.45mm round. The revisions after the first turned it into a 7.76. Mainly so it would penetrate modern field armor, and armored personal carriers of the time. Then as the site quotes they moved to the smaller round again to conserve materials more than anything.

No. You are thinking of the AK74. The 7.62 round was designed in 1943 and used in AK47's.
