guitar?

i would go against writing lyrics
if you cant remember them they were not worth much
if you can feel them youll say them again
if you wanted a in the moment fell you should record yourself, no repeat what was once real

but we are all different, n you should have told more about you if you want anything relevant
its like saying how should i have sex with my boyfriend ?

Well those are some nice discouraging words 8) WTF?

I started writing lyrics the first week I learned the cowboy chords for no other reason than because I had something to say. Sure my first song sucked, I wrote about my cat, but it was great practice and they only got better from there. I was listening to a lot of John Prine and early Bob Dylan at the time so I took lessons from them on writing lyrics. Don't listen to ninjamasturbator, she's a Debbie Downer....

fuck trying to memorize all these chords and scales and all that. Pick a few songs you really like, learn the chords that song uses and practice that song and make it sound good. you will internalize them much better when you back them up with emotion and somthing you feel.

knowing all your notes and how chords are structured is important too, but what matters most is what yours and others' ears hear with the sounds you make come from your guitar.

-Power chords-

x means don't play the string

E x
B x
G x
D x
A 3
E 1

If you fret the first fret of the low E string and the third fret of the A string, you have made a power chord. I usually use my pointer finger and my ring finger (I am right handed so fret with my left hand).

You can move that shape anywhere up and down the neck on those two strings and it makes all different power chords.

Also you can do

E x
B x
G x
D 3
A 1
E x

So do the same but this time you leave the E (don't play it) and fret the A string on fret 1 and D string on fret 3

Also you can move that one up and down the neck for instance

E x
B x
G x
D 5
A 3
E x

A cool website with alot of info that i use for little lessons every now and them when i get bored writing or get stagnant is www.wholenote.com.

On best advice for you is everytime you learn something, make a song out of it. Every technique, every chord, every scale. It doesn't have to be anything you're going to write down, record, play for your lover, or even ever play again, but it will help you remember, and help you learn how to use it within the context of a piece of music. You can know every scale and chord and still suck if you don't know how to use them. But you can know just the basics and be a fucking hero if you know what to do with them.

Another super important thing is just jamming out with yourself and being creative, try to play what you hear in your head. Jamming along with records and learning songs help a million too, especially with your rhythm. A metronome help too, but songs and drum machines are less boring. And if you have any musician friends, play with them! You don't have to be the beatles, just have fun. Oh yeah, that's the most important part, have fun. There might be some frustrating times, especially at first, you might even wanna smash your guitar sometimes. But if you ain't having fun and enjoying it overall, why play?
