Last year Finn set one of these up when we first opened the forum.. have a look if you like. I would like to set up a new thread for you guys to give us as mods some feedback.
And I'm being serious here - ok
As you might have noticed, or will notice, we are trying to keep this forum in some sort of logical form, and make sure its accessible to everyone (including newbies), not just those who are the loudest voices at a particular time. We really want to discourage personal messages and the like which can be saved for email or icq.. as well as stop anyone giving away too many personal details or be too reckless in terms of boasting personal drug use seeing as though we are now, MORE THAN EVER, under the eye of the law. Most of us are aware now of whats happened in Perth recently.
Anyway.. give us some constructive feedback !
What do you guys think we should be doing?

The fact is that nothing becomes as old as quickly as a new s o u n d

Being that this is a social forum it is expected that threads can get a bit clique, usually from those of us that have met (And this group is staring to get rather big) but by no means spend everyday with each other. THese threads I feel are OK as long as those whom comment aren't in the clique aren't ass raped or criticised. Other than that I feel AUS/Soc has been running really well of late especially with some of the current ssues around the Taliban, Drug raids etc. But as moderators I expect that you close any threads that don't fit guidelines regardless of who started it.

Huh,...What,...Who,....Dude I can't here a fucken word your saying.

start closing more of them farkin annoying personal threads.
that is all.

... "wisest is he who knows that he does not know" ... "someone prove i exist" ... asparagus? ...

Well.
Yes, I think the personal threads need to be curved a little. (GUILTY) But remember this is social. Each time we go out, we meet new bluelighters and so on, so how personal can we keep the jokes? (or the piss taking, depending on how well you know them)
Things I think the mods NEED to do:
*Delete any posts/reply's that contain the whereabouts of people at the same time declaring what they will have ie: DRUGS.
eg: I'll be at (event) with (x) amount of pills.
*Deleting posts or replies that contain intention to buy or sell
eg: Im getting (x) amount of (x) this weekend
Sometimes people need to be saved from themselves.....
*If someone posts something which has already been done, I think it be best that person delete their post, add it to the end of the original. I see a lot of posts have been doubled, then that one gets closed and allowed to sit there helping slow things down while the person ads the SAME thing the the original...... Maybe Mods should encourage people to delete post's, not just close them.
If I have any more bright ideas I shall come back......

But the mods do a great job already....

Mods should have a good sense of judgement, there are a few jokes going round about the crisis of USA, and I didn't think it were very nice, people have lost familes and friends in it. The thing is the Mods join in too. Also, mods should be fair and not use their power abusively...but I think most of the Mods on BL are alright.

It would be nice to have some good discussion's on bluelight again, instead of the shit we have to wade through now...of course this is but a dream....
Good Luck Mikey

Here's what I'd do if I were a mod...
- Delete any references to drugs which go against the guidelines (as per what bunny said)
- If a thread looked like it was going nowhere or was getting too cliquey I'd post a warning to get the thread back on topic, and if it didn't then I'd close it. (refer to my comments in the thread I started - I'd only actually close a thread in extream cases)
- If a thread has been done before, and the responses the thread would get would be the same as the old one, I'd close the new thread and link to the old one.
- If a thread belongs in a different forum I'd move it there with a reason why it belongs there.
- If someone posts a picture that would not be appropriate to be viewed in certian environments (ie: work, with family, etc.) I'd edit the post and make the picture into a link with a warning about the content.
- If a thread was likely to cause offence to some people, I'd edit the title (mods can do that, yeah?) and put a warning in so people can open it at their own discretion.
What I would not do:
- Censor peoples ideas and opinions. If I was offended by something I'd need to realise that others might not be. I'd only close a thread if there were enough calls from other people for it to be closed.
- Expect to be treated any differently even though I have moderator under my name.
What I've just written though, is pretty much the way all the current mods are running the place already though, and I think they're all doing a top job!

We have to all remember that this is a moderated board, and freedom of speech technically doesn't really apply (read the main social guidelines if you don't believe me). There are also rules and guidelines that might be able to be changed through a democratic process, but shouldn't be broken because someone thinks they're wrong. It's the mods job to enforce them...
Keep up the good work guys!

yeah pleo *should* be a mod, he reads every thread, he spends WAY too much time on bluelight, and he knows what's going down.
pleo for mod!!!

I like to eat smurfs *crunch* *crunch* *crunch*.

I wouldn't mind having Pleo as another social mod, however all the mod spots are currently taken, and unless there is a need for one of the current mods to step down, or one of the mods volunteers to be replaced, then unfortunately we don't have a spot for pleo...
Besides, no-one needs to have moderator under their name to point people in the right direction, and if there is anything which needs a mod to do, and it doesn't seem like one is around, any of you can post saying that you think something should be done... That'd make it a hell of a lot easier for us 'cos I for one am quite busy, and I'm sure the others are too, so the more help we get the better...
Keep it coming people, and remember, no matter what we do we won't be able to please everyone all the time... But we try...
