I'm wondering if I can take this as a pain killer. I have occitpal neuralgia and I'm having a horrible episode. I've been off pain killers for a long time (years), but I need relief, like now, or I'm going to end up in the ER. I called the pharmacy and they confirmed that this has codeine in it, but I have no idea how much. The dose is 15mL every 6 hours, prescribed as an expectorant/cough suppression. Any thoughts on how much I should take to use as a pain reliever?

irs hard to say as cough medicine isn't designed as a painkiller for neuralgia - the dose or codeine it cpuld take to fully dull the pain may make you feel quite sick from the other stuff that's in thew syrup.

Im not sure what your talking about
Guaifenesin
Diphenhydramine
Chlorotheophylline
Dextromethorphan

Is this correct also could you list in what dose they are per serving

woops - read 'cough suppressant' and assumed it was the sizzurp kind.
still, get proper meds for neuralgia

Out of them all Dextromethorphan would be the only one that could have applicable practice as an analgesic, the rest of them are unnecessary and toxic substances. Find Dextromethorphan ONLY products is you are deciding to use it for this.
