Xbox's are dropping in price now/next month anyway, so there's another reason to get one. The elite's are built not to overheat, as the case was in a minority of the last gen xbox's, it's also got a bigger harddrive.
so... does that mean my 'non-elite' is designed to overheat? 8o

dammit, still over a month to wait! :!

I bought an elite, but I had no idea about it's design workaround of the overheating problem.

Can anyone provide a link to a reputable source? I'd have thought Microsoft would have made more of it as a selling point if it were the case.

what - 'the non-elite might overheat and set your house on fire, so you should probably buy an elite'???

*narrows eyes at xbox*

*goes out to buy a fire extinguisher* :|

felix, we both got the new gen xbox that has a different cooling system.. don't worry.
It was the earlier models that overheated.

And yes, price has dropped to coincide with GTA release

If you want to find out whether your 360 will RROD on you or not, check the date on the sticker on the back. If your 360 was manufactured by FDOU after 8-24-07, you should be in the clear. I got lucky when I bought mine, it is FDOU 8-27-07.

xbox is being ditched in 09/10

microsoft announced they are releasing a new console, and i gaurantee that they'll do exactly what they did to xbox when 360 came out. No more games, no more support.

Get a ps3, atleast you wont feel ripped off in 1-2 years time.

This game is going to get me playing my system again, thinking of taking a vacation day or two so i can catch the midnight release, get a bag o' yayo and play for 2 days straight.....

Even if Microsoft did come out with a new console in 2010, it would probably make the PS3 obsolete as well. Besides, xbox is the one with all the games :p

check out GTAIV.com for the last trailer and a bunch of other in game vids, and sounds. you can even sample the radio station. i have it embedded in my myspace.

xbox360 has more games yes.. it was also released a year prior to ps3... and MOST of the top games on xbox360 are on PC. The new xbox isnt going to make ps3 obsolete either, its being released to 'compete with the ps3', that is true because incase you havnt noticed the graphics on ps3 is just getting better and better as the coding and general programming optimizations and sdk's become more advanced and perfected. Look at mgs4 gameplay footage(gametrailers.com). a 360 could NEVER have huge open environments with animations that good with that amount of detail, never, and by the time the new xbox comes out, assuming its multi core like ps3(and it probably will be, and im not talking 2-4 cores, probably 8 or more) it will take years for it to get to the standards of a ps3 anyway, and by then, guess what? Ps4 is released(which will happen around 2012, as playstations are generally released every 5 or so years)

From what I gathered from that article it appears that both companies are working on new systems and trying to come out with one. Hence it saying that it plans to go head to head with a new home gaming console - they didn't bring up the PS3.

I really don't see why people believe that one system is so much better than the other. The xbox 360 is not "years" behind the PS3, it only has slightly less processing power and it does have a better graphics chip than the PS3. The only real, major advantage the PS3 has over the xbox 360 is the amount of space on the game discs, due to the xbox having considerably less capacity. However, I still believe we are years away from that meaning too much, as the only game so far that has taken advantage of all that extra space is MGS4. Most game developers don't have the time or money to fill up all the extra space, and find the 360 discs sufficient.

I can't wait until this comes out. I don't have a PS3 or 360 but we have them at work and we will be getting the GTA shipment 1 week before the street date so I will probably be sleeping at the office.

I have no idea, I just looked on the microsoft website and it says 720p.

Wonder what it is on the PS3
