i swum up from the murky,
thick, cold depths of the ocean.
untangled my ankles from
aquatic plants and animals.
the light which was
once only a pin in the sky
enlarges like pupils
drawn into darkness.
the water is warmer here,
the sacrifices made to
reach this destination,
weren't sacrifices to begin with.
childish beliefs that
the external world alone
provides happiness,
when all along -
happiness can only be reached
from within.
