been looking into the health benefits of earthing yourself... absolutely fascinating. is there any truth in all of this?
they are saying that since the invention of the rubber sole shoe and high rise flats most of us are NEVER in contact with the earth. and this has Major health consequences...

By grounding yourself every day by walking bare foot outdoors or simply connecting yourself to a EARTH socket or Water pipe you can feel better and reduce MANY health problems.. it also seems good for reducing harmful EMF from modern equipment that fries our brains.

would love to know more about this, doesn't seem to be a lot of info out there at mo, and not many people heard of it.
could be a load of old baloney but i have a feeling that there is something in it.

excellent page i found HERE with best info:

There is another article about earthing in Spirituality and Health also!

Click me!

I am a firm believer that we're outright killing the point of having feet by wearing these awful shoes. My brother received some Reeboks with some kind of new futuristic feel to them for Christmas this year. I gave probably a fifteen minute long spiel on the damage wearing those shoes causes to the structure of your foot.

During the summer, if I'm not actually going into the jungle or a store, I'm barefoot. It simply feels better on my feet and helps me feel closer to that which I live.

I want to hear others' thoughts on this matter, though! Thanks for the link.

Yeah i agree Simply_Live.

I only wear shoes if im going to a store or through hard terrain, there was a period during my hectic psychedelic years where i would often go grocery shopping barefoot.. it's funny to think i did that back then; i cant imagine doing it now. I made it a habit to never wear shoes inside my house, even walking into friends place's i prefer to take my shoes off before stepping inside. In the winter i'll wear socks around the house to keep my feet warm; and in the summer it's all barefoot.

^I know I've spent most of this winter barefoot when I'm in the house (or any other houses, unless they request I wear socks). It clicks and helps me feel better.

I have to ask: how nice is it to walk through your garden barefoot? What a time to connect with the thing that keeps us living!

Reading about this makes me want to go dig my toes in some sand REALLLLY bad....

I like going barefoot on ground that is very close to debris-free, but unfortunately my toes are rather unsightly... :-/

Relaxed attention with theta

"During meditation, theta waves were most abundant in the frontal and middle parts of the brain.

"These types of waves likely originate from a relaxed attention that monitors our inner experiences. Here lies a significant difference between meditation and relaxing without any specific technique," emphasizes Lagopoulos.

"Previous studies have shown that theta waves indicate deep relaxation and occur more frequently in highly experienced meditation practitioners. The source is probably frontal parts of the brain, which are associated with monitoring of other mental processes."

"When we measure mental calm, these regions signal to lower parts of the brain, inducing the physical relaxation response that occurs during meditation."

"meditate" then talk a walk bare-foot, repeat.
;)

Does anyone have real info on this or is this just the next pseudoscience. I mean, I can understand the benefits of going barefoot and meditating but the theory of grounding, if I understand it correctly, is that the natural energy of the earth enters your body and causes health benefits. That sounds a little too good to be true to me. Maybe I'll have to do my own research into this subject but it seems like some kind of bullshit to me right now.

you feel this is a pseudoscience, because you dont understand it or are not aware?
i do hope you did do some of your own research.
and this is by no means too good to be true, its a massive tragedy we must resort to having to do such things...

check this stuff out maybe, or whom ever else reading that might think its cooky or w/e

In 1994, the U.S. National Institutes of Health (NIH) established the term "Biofield." A Biofield is a matrix of different energies that extend outward from each person's body and is a more "scientific" term than "aura", but means the same thing. According to the latest theories and research in biophysics, the Biofield comprises the life energies of cellulr metabolism, organ systems and the human morphogenic field.

Electromagnetic waves are composed of two different but related fields -- the electric component, known as the "E-field", and the magnetic component, called either "H-field" or "B-field". Electric fields are created by voltage and measured in volts per meter (v/m). The higher the voltage, the stronger will be the resultant field. An electric field will exist even when there is no current flowing. Magnetic fields are created when electric current flows: the greater the current, the stronger the magnetic field.

So just what can we of the proletariat do to protect ourselves? The answer is very little actually. There is a lot of web presence devoted to those promoting their own particular brand of protection from electromagnetic pollution. The purpose of this article is sort out the claims and discover the real means of protection, if it exists.

Man, people are really talking about this concept. Read an article in Time (I think) the other day while at a doctor's appointment that talked about grounding yourself.

Anyone else excited for the warmer weather so going barefoot is possible? :D

alot of stones, especially smoky quartz help with grounding. with purple amythyst to circulate energy gently again if needed.

so going barefoot is possible? :D

Lol, silly cold person, barefooting is for 50 degrees and up! :D

I have to say, it's probably one of the best feelings ever, walking barefoot in the soil (or even on the pavement!).

It takes a while to get your feet used to it, since we're so used to sticking our feet into warm, moist areas but if you keep at it, anyone can enjoy walking around barefoot. Who knows, we might even be able to change the common notion of "no shirt, no shoes, no service"!

It is sad to deny.

We are 80+% water, every thought and sense, and every movement that happens in response is an electrical impulse.
The human body and mind is really so simple that not being shocked/amazed is the key to self mastery.

You don't need to dig your feet into the bare earth in order to get grounded, though it certainly helps. All you have to do is focus your attention and energy to the lower part of your body (waist down), and imagine your body's energy connecting with the earth. Even if you live 50 stories up in a high rise, you can do this.

A lot of people in the modern world - and especially drug users - are very "floaty" in that their energy is all going upward and there is little anchoring them down. People who drink coffee a lot end up having weak root chakras, for example. The best thing you can do is sit with your feet flat on the floor and just imagine your energy going miles down, deep into the earth. Some even imagine the feet becoming tree roots. Whatever your technique, grounding is essential for a balanced life!

No. We ground ourselves constantly during the day and have no need to do so by going barefoot which exposes us to toxins that are legitimately harmful (eg. cryptococcal meningitis in faecal matter). Furthermore, you know you've just grounded when you feel the zap of a static shock. The doorknob is a common place to discharge, yet most of the time we touch doorknobs, which is ridiculously often, we feel no static zap meaning we had no need to discharge to begin with. The supreme irony is that the insulating soles of shoes actually prevents us from picking up excess charge off surfaces we would otherwise collect from, a fact which should just about hammer the final nail in the coffin of this whack "barefoot grounding" theory.

they are saying that since the invention of the rubber sole shoe and high rise flats most of us are NEVER in contact with the earth. and this has Major health consequences...

Have you ever heard of anyone giving anyone a static shock so severe that the victim DIED from it? Our bodies are governed by electrical impulses and yet we get by just fine with or without being physically connected to the soil.

I don't recall it being absolute proof but there is potentially legitimate concern about electromagnetic fields emanating from equiment that sees huge amounts of power. By huge, I mean in the magnitude of powerlines transmitting inconceivable amount of electricity. Generally speaking, no electrical device in the average household projects an EMF further than 2-3 ft and even those are weak fields.

Are you really so naive as to think the purpose of that site is the dissemination of knowledge? Notice that right next to the "Scientific Research" tab there's a tab entitled "Products". You gotta know it's a scam when a website is trying to sell the same grounding strap I can buy for $2 at the electronics store down the street for 18 fuckin quid as a fucking health product.
