Grit Weed?

I just found out about grit weed today, and it seems to be an old topic.
But after reading into it, I started wondering if mine was grit cause after smoking I have a soar throat and am coughing alot, but I'm also sick and they hurt before smoking, the smoke just made it worse, but it's not really bad. I'm also coughing a lot.

I got it last night (12am), and smoked it before I knew about grit weed (found out 3 hours ago). The thing is, my throat and chest didn't start hurting more until about one and a half hours ago, about 6 or so hours after I smoked it.

I looked at the weed and a few parts are shiny, pretty bright but not too bright.
The kief is the last thing I looked at. I tested it by putting it in my tongue and in between my teeth and it didn't feel like sandpaper and I didn't hear or feel a crunch in between my teeth.

The thing that scared me, was when I took some and rubbed it on a CD pretty hard, it made scratches but it didn't actually cut into it, just left a few tiiiny scratches.

Could this possibly be grit weed? Is there even grit weed out there anymore?

(Other info: I live in Vancouver, BC and the bud is Bubba Kush, its dank as fuck).
 
I think the smoke irritated your already hurting throat and chest, and sometimes that irritation doesn't make itself obvious until hours later...it's happened to me when I've smoked while sick many times. There's nothing wrong with your weed.

Does it come in buds ? Or is it shake ?

Seeing that ur in Canada it's prolly in buds eh ?
 
Weed will scratch a cd a tiny bit, it is hard. You probably got high for a while so u didnt feel the pain in ur lungs from smoking but then after the high wore off the pain made itself more apparent. If the keif is smooth, then the bud is fine, there would be noticeable glass in the keif if it really was grit weed.

at least get a magnifying glass and inspect it instead of continuing smoking it when you dont know

i thought i might have got it, but after doing the tests and thinking about the idea i came to the conclusion that mine was not grit weed.

This is somthing that was made up or it was a one time thing.. i dont think its a big an issue as some are talking about, but it does make news and it sure does make you think about what you are smoking.

If you can chew it without a crunch it is probably ok. But who knows.. I am still looking into this so called "grit weed"
 
Pojump it certainly isn't a one time thing. It's more of a european problem from reading forums and whatnot...

Pretty much every british poster has heard of it, and americans have no clue what it is lol. Either way you KNOW when you get this shit. No CD test necesarry smoking it will be that unpleasant.
 
Its a wonder they are still in business. I could see it happen.. I guess its really a matter of using common sense. However i hear now of micro grit weed or somthing like that.

People will do anything for a profit. We need to get this to US congress as it could be a good reason for the legialization of this plant.
 
wouldn't smoking grit weed out of a bong help out the situation, instead of the grit flying into your throat it falls into the water and cools down,

i don't think most lighters would be hot enough to vapourize glass, especially not if its a bic, you shouldn't be smoking with a really hot torch anyway, that would just destroy some of the thc,

some people consider bongs grimey:P but they don't have to be, aslong as they are cleaned often, (and equiped with a carbon filter)

We had a different problem here last dry season with the gravy and sparkling weed. The English grit weed dilemna refers to the situation with glass beads being added to Cannabis.

weed will scratch a cd. i used to make kief from stems a while back and part of the process was pouring the mixture onto the back of a cd so you could see the kief easier. the cd had to be a shitty cd tho cuz it always ended up scratched up as fuck.

That is interesting as the sparkling Cannanis being sold in Australia last season did the same thing except that there were no glass particles present.
