Grinder / Scissors / Picking, what do you do you do?

Whats the best way to break the weed up, as I usually grind it in one of those plastic grinders as I find they are better then even some metal ones and crystal catchers are just annoying really. Does grinding it like this lose a lot of the good shit from my cannabis? Whats the best way, I sometimes break out the scissors if its too sticky to grind up.

How do you break up your cannabis?

Only time I use a grinder is for joints. I have both a 3 staged grinder, and a cheap plastic one and I honestly prefer my cheap plastic one. Would rather just have that kief with my bud, and if I want concentrates I'll buy them.

I usually just smoke bong now and I usually use my hands to break up my nuggets. I prefer to have big meaty chunks in there instead of weed ground up from a grinder, but just personal preferance.
 
If you have access to proper sticky bud, grinder all the way. Can't be dealing with sticky fingers when trying to roll, especially if stoned already.
 
Thanks for the replies, but what in theory, gets the most out of your thc/buds? I have to think that lots of it is falling off into my grinder an scissors might be a better way to go.
 
i haven't used grinders much so can't really say anything.

I find it easier to gently pull away at the nugs "lol" and just load small lil nuggies into my bowl.

but scissors do seem a fair way to break up bud...but the again, argh ***
 
I use a grinder basically every time I smoke. I think the biggest disadvantage is when you are smoking with other people and they get lighter happy. Its burns almost too easily but this is ideal for solo smoking.

What do you mean by “lots of it is falling off into my grinder”? Even if your grinder has a screen, the keif is not lost forever. It is just saved for another day.
 
I'm looking for a good way to trim my crop. I normally just use scissors but I'm thinking of making a contraption with a fan and a screen so that when I put the untrimmed but through the screen the blades on the fan cut the chaff off.

scissors would have too much friction in my opinion. and a grinder has lots of friction but they often come with scrapers and keif catchers.

Depends on how ritual you allow your spliff building to become...tearing apart chunks of bud and hashish is just fucking so great for me, as you can smell your fingers as you're working, building up anticipation for the light-up.

I'm with B1tO on this one. The only time I won't use my hands is when they're sweaty, in which case I bust out a double shot glass and pair of surgical scissors and go to work.

I tend to get a bit overzealous with grinders and break the herb up too fine for my preference. I like the bud to be a little chunky whether I'm rolling up or packing a bowl, and grinders always break it up finer than I would like.
 
My Cosmic grinder destroys bud. I won't use another grinding device after picking up this baby.
 
Artificial emotion get a pair of spring loaded snips. Get fan leaves only off right at harvest and hang the whole plant to let the rest dry around the bud to protect it, then use the snips for fine trimming and clipping off main branches once the stems are snapping. It should be s slow process over several days.

I just bust up bud with my fingers straight into the pipe. :)
 
if its bud that breaks up real easy I'll just use my hands. If its sticky or im breaking up a gram + ill just use a grinder.

Probably why I take forever to collect keif I dont usually break more than a g up at a time XD
 
I used to use scissors to chop it up for a dugout or one hitter, unless I was plugging a pipe or bong with a piece of bud. I just vaporize now so now I only grind, and I use the free grinder that came with my magic flight launchbox.
 
Not sure if its just me but I preferred breaking down buds into little chunks rather than grinding it for a bowl. I also preferred to roll shake into joints though if I really wanted to smoke a joint, I would just grind the bud as that is easier than breaking it down into the tiniest bits so the join will smoke right.
 
I vape just as much as I smoke so I'm always using my grinder. About the only time I use scissors is to chop the bud up so it'll fit in (my grinder is really small).

That's what I do (except for the part about using spring loaded scissors). I've heard of people making trimming devices out of dremmels before, so I might try and make one. Anything to make it easier! I'm pretty set on the idea of making a powered trimming device, given the amount I will need to trim this year.

A good trick I love is trimming the bottom 1/3 of the plant. Not only does it increase the yield of top colas, but it cuts down on the chaff at the bottom that gets little light.
