Gravity,
9/14/03.
Fancy meeting you here:
the fog I thought I left behind yesterday in sleep.
I sent a call for clarity in dreams: `turn this
pool of ice to fields of green' --
I screamed this up on the mountain top,
but never received a response.
Wouldn't grant me a blasted echo.
Oh well, I know I'm better off alone.
I opened my eyes in hazy light
to find you'd flown away,
taking with you my fear and futility
taking with you my yesterday,
only to have you return by noon to cloud my vision with
a mist so thick I could cut through it --
but with it all goes dull, muscles grow weak, meaning fades,
lights grow dim; I, all the more blind, and
all I can find to say is:
it's a shame it's got to be like this
with you stripping me slowly of all my senses,
killing me a bit more with every passing day,
clouding the ledge so I don't know the
moment of decent until the ground seems to
just disappear from under my feet.
And you'll be above me, cackling
and you'll be above me, set to go flying,
watching me as I fall and
leaving me dying.
