Gravity bong? (merged)

Have you guys heard of the "Bucket Pipe"??

It is a factory made portable, waterless bucket gravity bong. The design is quite clever, yet I have no info on it other than what is on the internet. If anyone has any info on it, or has tried it, please do share. You can put "bucket pipe" in any search engine, and see what the contraption looks like. Seems like it would work, but can't tell fully from just pictures.
 
i've thought of a portable g-bong before. You get 2 metal cup-like cylinders... they have to be open on one end, and closed on the other. They should be SLIGHTLY different in diameter... like a millimeter difference... also, one of these cylinders needs to be a little longer than the other one. This way, one cylinder fits easily inside the other. Okay... now, on the longer cylinder... drill a hole in the top of it to meet the diameter of the 'cone' or uh 'slide' you want to use. Get a slide that's long enough so that it'll reach almost to the bottom of the contraption. The rest is easy. Fill the bottom cylinder with water, and the cone with weed. Light the bud, and as you pull the top cylinder up slowly, the smoke will be sucked down through the slide... then, in a quick bruce-lee motion, remove the slide, and inhale all that blessed smoke through the top hold. Air tightness can be provided by o-rings.

Mmm...a few months ago, I had a GB assembled. Waking and baking with it was pretty fun. Funny story about gravity bongs though.

So one night, I was sitting outside smoking a J (just read on). After I finished, I returned to my dorm room, where I had a GB sitting on my floor, bowl and all. As usual, I light some incense. An hour or so later, the cops show up at my door, after I open without looking first like an idiot, they say they've had a report that I'm smoking pot. Uh...no officer, that's INCENSE. They barge in anyway, see the GB, and don't even know what it is. But they search anyway. Eventually, they get to the GB, and decide it's paraphernalia, and take it. But they couldn't charge me for it because they didn't know what it was ;)
 
That's pretty fucked man..

Cops breaking into your house stealing your Gravity Bong without knowing what it is, asses.. :p
 
I remember the first time I hit a GB the right way. It was only the second or third time I'd EVER smoked. I burned a whole bowl and took it all in one hit. Went from completely straight to blazed eyes, fucked up vision, uncoordination, etc.. in a matter of seconds. Definitely the most efficient way to get baked fast.
 
i found my old gb apparatus the other day.. it only uses two gommets for sealing but it is air tight. the cap fits a lot of bottles so i could put it on a 2 liter or a smaller bottle depending on the situation. the long tube goes into the water to filter the smoke like a regular bong... and the tube was originally clear too hehe

This is precisely one of the types of gravity bong I was talking about in my bubbling grav bong post. The reason you can't get as big a hit is cause the pressure pushing the smoke through the water gets less faster than a regual grav bong, eventually there will not be enough pressure to pull the air through the water. If you put the bubbling apparatus at the top, so the bubbling water gets lifted up when you pull on the grav bong, the pressure will not equalize, and you will get a normal, albeit filtered grav hit. So, frizzantic, you could easily modify yours. Just cut the tube short, and attach as small plastic cup to the inside of the bong that the tube goes into. When you dip the bong to take a hit, the cup will fill with water and will bubble the whole time you lift it. =D
 
fact: gravity bongs get you higher than if you had smoked the same amount in a pipe. please notice the many puffs of smoke drifting away without being captured, notice in a gravity bong ALL the smoke is inside, unless you fucked it up.

gravity bongs are to cannabis as syringes are to heroin. the best way to do it. you can make a half quarter last two weeks if you only use a gravity bong.
 
i never really liked smoking g bongs they get me way to high and i don't like that feeling can barly do shyt so thats why i juss stay with spliffs

Exactly, unless you fucked it up, it should be more efficient as smoking a bowl, thank you. :)

It sure does get you high but if you smoke a gbong a lot it'll FUCK UP your lungs... trust me. i doubt i'll ever hit a gbong again (well maybe a small one ;) )
 
I would just like to point out. as I dont think it hasnt been yet in this thread......

.....that adding a shotgun type deal to the bottle of the bucket helps clearing the chamber after a toke has been taken, I know it can be a bother to holding it while the bottle is charged.......


I think it is benificial this way, although this could just be a personal preference.

please excuse me if it has been mentioned, I scaned all three pages for shotgun and it didnt come up, so I figured I would add a valid point.
 
do you mean a carburator? like a hole on the side? that seems like it would be a pain in the ass.. i just would lift the bottle up and let it drop again and it would clear
 
aye. just drop it and push it into your lungs. no need for a carb as it would most likely just get in the way.

good thread. i love smoking out of gravity bongs. almost as much as i liked smoking out of a custom built electric pipe fitted with a gas mask on the end. ahh the good old days of experimentation and engeneering.

Wow, someone else that uses the syringe analogy, heehee!

I totally agree on it's efficiency - "all the smoke getting captured and compressed into your lungs" = "little or no waste" :)

I agree with the grav bong being more efficient as well. I have already pointed out that a grav doesn't really burn hotter. It creates more heat but temperature and heat are different. But, there is another reason. The rate at which a chemical passes through a membrane (osmosis), is proportional to both the surface area of the membrane and the difference in concentrations of the chemical on either side of it. Now if you do the math, which involves solving the simple differential equation dx/dt (rate of absorbtion) = delta(x) (difference in concentrations), you will get that x(t) = a*e^(b*t), where b is a negative constant and a is a positive one. e^ means e to the power of. It follows that proportionally, the amound of thc you get from a large hit is greater than the amount you get from a small hit, if held for the same amount of time.
 
Of course, this proportional difference is only present if the concentration of thc in your blood is significant in comparison with that of your hit. Of course, the THC concentration of most of your blood is quite low, much lower than the smoke you're inhaling. So, it would be tempting to say this effect can be ignored. However, your lungs are not perfect membranes (it takes a few minutes for big molecules to get from one side to the other), nor is your blood a perfect liquid. So, concentrations of thc INSIDE the membrane are going to play a role, and it will be significant. Also, the blood moves rather slowly through your cappilaries, so some THC will build up there, in greater concentrations than the resr of your blood. So, there you have it, the grav bong is without a doubt proportionally more efficient (though the extent of this difference is debatable.)
