LOL.. he really kinda does.
Best spinner ever.. hands down.

The part that had me rolling was when he talked about trustfarians and I just thought bago. Id go but I couldnt afford it. I do think Trey is the right choice. Jimmy herring is boring, darkstars carbon copy meh, I could never hear a Warren haynes note again in my life and be content. Phish rarely covered the dead and I feel like he will put a good spin on it with his interpretations. The amount of shows sucks but the GD has some old dudes in it that probably are not wanting to go on a giant tour though maybe a few more dates would of been nice tbh
"it's okay, at least donna isn't supposed to be there......" lmfao
but yeah man. i think trey is the best choice, too. but mostly because who else is out there who's both capable of playing jerry's part and, more importantly, willing to play jerry's part? (besides warren/jimmy/insert_hippie_douche_circuit_hack_here) it takes a really talented, top tier, master-level musician to play jerry's parts well -- and let's face it, not many top tier musicians want to associate themselves with the dead, for a variety of reasons.
i think somebody like pat metheny or another great jazz guitarist would have been the GOAT level choice to play jerry's part, but i doubt he'd touch that gig with a ten foot pole. or hell, even think outside the box a little bit and get branford marsalis to play jerry's part on sax. branford might have actually done it, too.
i think trey will do a fine job, though. and i'm interested to hear his take on the music.
Someone wrote, possibly in the GD appreciation thread that American Beauty was their best studio album. While obviously live is the way to go, I have to say American Beauty pales in comparison to Workingman's Dead. Skeletons From the Closet was my first album, and if I was playing something for someone who'd never heard them I'd play that or American Beauty. That was all in response to the 'High Time' you pointed out. There's a decent Big River too... Something I haven't found yet is a really good live Don't Ease Me In....
And Thank You! Music is my medicine. When it hits, you feel no pain![]()
