NEMD Grateful Dead Appreciation Thread

there are LOADS of GD cover bands, in fact, there's probably one guaranteed to be in your scene RIGHT NOW :) i have actually not heard of the 2 above, maybe will have to check them out if i ever wind up in those necks of the woods

Yeah DSO is playing at the orpheum which is a really nice amphitheater in MN, it should be a stellar show I am just wondering what set they will be playing, it will be interesting to find out... I am just hoping to hear loser or lady with a fan

^they have been playing a lot of original setlists lately. if they play a dead setlist they will announce it @ the end of the show and not before so part of the fun is trying to figure it out :)

damn pencil pushers always jotting down every tune... I bet they are all wharf rats with nothing ebtter to do. :p

no honestly, I never got those people. you know you ahve seen them just standing tehre with pan and pen writing every jam, every song, EVEN THE TUNE UPS!!! but then.. come one/two songs into second set. They already know whats next. ;)

lil bit of knowledge for ya, DSO will be doing Rva for the second time EVER there first had to be cut short @ 10.30 BOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! but now everything that goes to the norva in norfolk has to go to richmond at the national, so now richmond again will have dead coming through. besides a few local cover bands and the one DSO show dead hasnt been to richmond in over 10 years. WOOT!

^ oh i didn't mean to suggest i'm usually able to tease out what the show is ... i'm usually far too busy being the music ... hah

how about sometime you get to responding my PM instead? :o

Also the fake jerry is MEGGA pot head. @ grateful fest my friend was smoking a bowl and handed it to his left and low and behold its the fake jerry, he hits it and is then like "dude arnt youa bout to play" and the fake jerry looks at the sky and looks back down and say "you know, I think I am, I better get going".

such down to earth guys. Iv ate BBQ with them down in NC, the old keyboardest was dumb founded at 4:30 am to see two marbled eye'd kids down in the lobby choking down cigs going on and on about what a wonderful show they just put on.

And one the greatest things ever, at the 9:30 club in DC one of my firends was traveling seperate from ohio and missed about 3 songs from the first set adn came to find the show was SOLD OUT! well he desided to go out back listen through the back door where the tour manager saw him and asked what he was doing. He explained and lets justs ay after that he ahd teh best seat in teh house. I saw that goofy fuck RIGHT BEHIND THE BAND!!! No more then 2months of being into the dead he was back stage with DSO. WOW!!!

oh yeah, the fake phill, looks like the owl from tootsie roll pop commersials if your on enough L. I swear to god he makes faces at me lol

i wish that phil, ratdog, and DSO would come to southern cali :-(

phil is always playing in Nor. cal ( bay area ), but it seems like they rarely come out here :-/

THis is pretty cool http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=-oUzuQR61HY
I love all dead music, regaurdless of who is playing it. Hell I even like my half ass attempts at easy songs such as ripple. But I guess Im kinda biased seeing as how I have seen 35+DSO shows. ;)

sad thing I havent bene to s single dead show this year.,...ugh been to lots of shows though, heard a few dead tunes.

There is a band in MN that doesn't usually play a lot of dead stuff but know some, they are an irish acoustic band...ya know good bar music.... and they are the ones who got me in to the dead by their performance of loser. Yeah I should upload their album somewhere for someone, they are called the Tim Malloys and the CD is Live at Harvest Fest

jesus fucking christ, all ill say is dso does not touch ratdog or plf... If you missed the last ratdog tour where kimock was filling in at lead guitar, u missed some of the best post-gd shit out there.
