So I just popped 30 mg hydrocodone and ate a whole grapefruit. I have a pretty low tolerance as I havent been using much lately. Is that enough grapefruit to make a difference? I've never done this before.

It will make a difference yes, but the amount is extremely variable...because grapefruits are all very different. At the very most you'll notice a stronger effect that will seem like you took more hydrocodone than you did (usually 1.5x the dosage, I've noticed). It's also possible that nothing will happen at all.

people have too high of expectations...it is basically 50/50...sometimes it works sometimes it doesnt...and even when it does...its hardly noticeable...maybe placebo

Can grapefruit juice (as a potentiator of codeine) cause nausea?

Earlier today I decided to try using grapefruit juice to potentiate codeine for the first time since I've read that something in it inhibits an enzyme allowing higher morphine conversion. I bought a big jug of Rio Red Grapefruit juice (actually a cocktail of red grapefruit, apple and grape juices) and drank about 600ml of it over half an hour, then another 300ml or so a half hour after that.

I then drank my codeine elixir, (theoretically) 400mg extracted from AC&C pills, chasing it with some more of the juice. Almost immediately I felt nauseous, and within 5 minutes I threw up the codeine and a bunch of the juice.

I then extracted 200mg more, drank it without chasing with anything, then drank another 200mg about twenty minutes later. It worked and I'm pretty high now, no real difference in intensity but I'm wondering if the juice or whatever is in it can cause nausea or vomiting when combined with codeine, because I have taken big doses of opiates like heroin and hydromorphone and rarely get nauseous (never vomiting).

yea if you dont like the taste...but i suspect the codeine itself to be the cause...even if it never happened before

I haven't heard of many people getting nauseous from grapfruit juice and opiates.
This may just be an isolated incident from your stomach contents/condition at the time. Maybe see if it happens next time.

Did you eat the grapefruit after the hydrocodone? If so, you aren't going to get much effect.
As far to its efficacy if taken at the proper time, it seems to lengthen the duration, but keep the same intensity in my experience.
