I'm New To This Site So Please Inform Me If I Say Anything Out Of Place Or Anything. I've Recently Had Surgery On My Wrist For 2 Broken Bones That Came Through The Skin. I Also Broke My Collarbone. I Had Surgery On My Wrist And They Put Pins In For 6 To 8 Weeks. The Dr Prescribes Me #42 Hydrocodone 10/650 A Week. I'm Curious To Know What Effects Grapefruit Juice Has When It Is Consumed With My Prescribed Pain Meds. Like I Said I'm New To This Site And Maybe This Question Has Been Asked Before But I Don't See Anything About It. Thanks For Your Time And Information Reguarding My Question.

hmm thought that only worked with benzos, thanks gm, could you tell me if that also works on oxycodone? if it does im gunna have my mom buy me a bunch, so i can get effecient pain relief on low doses.

You are supposed to use white grapefruit juice only. It tastes horrible. The Sweeter pink stuff doesn't have the correct ingredients. I've tried it and it seems to make the high come on a little slower, and last a little longer...but the small effect is really not even worth it IMO.

thanks gm sorry for being a smart ass to u the other night but i just had to it was so fuunny lol :P

wats that for? and can i have my mom get it at somewhere like walmart?
and is it true about white vs pink grapefruit juice?

sorry about the caps. i had it on cap lock but for some reason on here it only caps the first letter of each word. can you also tell me how much juice i would need to drink and when should i drink it? before, after, durin? thanks for all the input guys. i've only been on here a few days mostly out of boredom lol. but i've come across so much interesting info that i can sit here for hours just reading all this stuff. i work as a screenprinter so it's impossible for me to work right now. the dr's say it'll probably be the first of the year before he would even consider lettin me return to work. i'm takin like 8 to 10 pills a day should i start to consider cwe? i've never done it before and was wonderin how effiecient it is with relieving the pain as well. i know that's alot of apap to comsume in a day but i'm takin them as prescribed. i take 2 10/650 at a time just like the doc said but i don't want that to result in any liver damage either. can you tell me who mant pills to extract and the pro and cons of cwe. all info is greatly appreciate guys. thanks so much

i know its before
post op i was rxed 12 100/650 darvocets a day, thats 2 x limit - 200 (7800mg)
i have abused a few times, taking 20 darvos in a day, that 13 grams of apap, my liver was checked 2 days after or mayb it was the next day i cant remember anything anymore, but anyways, my levels were way below normal, thats why my insurance wouldnt cover roxicodone for me (oxcodone only 15mg)
younger people metabolized apap better, im 17 and sknny as a pole, thats probably why it wasnt a problem, i taken 4g + at a time many a time, and take the 13 grams a day 2 times i think, taken 6 grams a few times, i dont remember i posted it before, but my memory is shot from so much opium.

3A4 inhibition, which is what grapefruit juice does, affects hydrocodone's metabolism into norhydrocodone. It should theoretically increase duration and strength.

Can't tell you if it does work with hydrocodone, as I've never personally tried it.

norhydrocodone is hydrocodone's useless metabolite, the main acting metabolite is hydromorphone and hydrocodone itself, so if it inhibits turning it into norhydrocodone it will increase duration, i believe that it is what is passed in the urine.
same dance for oxycodone, it has two major metabolites, noroxycodone and oxymorphone, same as above noroxycodone is useless and oxymorphone is 10x more potent than oxycodone, but it is a minor metabolite, as it is in a much smaller ratio, the same with hydrocodone and hydromorphone, smaller ratio of oxycodone to oxymorphone, and the ratio of oxycodone to noroxycodone is much larger than the conversion to oxymorphone.
hope that makes sense.
a small portion of oxy/hydrocodone is metabolized into oxy/hydromorphone, compared to the much larger amount metabolized into noroxy/hydrocodone, which is useless for analgesia or recreational value.
so by increasing the time it takes it to convert the oxy/hydrocodone into noroxy/hydrocodone, the longer the high/pain relief lasts.
make sense?

Inducing 2D6 doesn't work with oxycodone or hydrocodone. That's responsible for converting them to oxymorphone and hydromorphone, respectively. It doesn't work because the amounts we're talking about are negligable at best.

thats what i said, the ratio of conversion to noroxy/hydrocodone is much larger than that which is converted to oxy/hydromorphone.
which is why i said the main effects are from oxy/hydrocodone it self.

It's my understanding that oxy/hydrocodones are actually prodrugs and the metabolites are what get you high. Maybe I'm confused, but I swear I know I read that in some research. I'll see if I can find a source.
