Has anyone tried their hand at grant writing?

Anyone have any suggestions for resources for free-lance grant writing?

Any help would be appreciated!

What kind of grants are you looking at getting? I'm sure there are books out there for this sort of thing, or your local college might have free workshops (ours does). In addition you might be able to shaddow someone that does this kind of thing for a living.

If it's a science grant, and I don't know of any other kind except psychology; you at least have to be listed as co-author to get your money. They want to know that you know what you're doing, and that it's not a waste of their money. If it's a grant for money provided by a college, like a student research grant, you could ask an advisor or teacher in that subject for help. I'm pretty sure it's impossible to have a shadow writer for your application, at the least I think it would be unethical and violate an honor code (assuming you are in college and your school has one). Or you could get help from someone in the department for which the grant will be applied; possibly career services. You could also do a google search-some research universities display their grants on their department pages.
