Grandparents charged with baby's murder

According to an indictment, an 11-month-old Winchester baby died earlier this year of a methadone overdose.

A central Kentucky couple faces murder charges for the death of a baby.

An indictment accuses the Winchester couple of causing the 11-month-old's death by a methadone overdose.

The baby's mother was also arrested.

The baby, Addysen Brooks Mayes, died in October.

Police say autopsy results show the infant died of acute toxic effects of methadone.

Authorities say the infant's mother, 20-year-old Brooks Ecton, left Addyson in the care of her mother, Cheryl Kirkwood-Black, and Black's husband David Black.

Police say when Ecton came home that night, she noticed Addysen was acting strange.

The next morning, the baby died.

Cheryl Kirkwood-Black and David Black are both charged with murder.

According to court records, they've admitted to being methadone users and obtaining the drugs illegally.

Ecton is charged with wanton endangerment for allegedly not seeking medical attention for Addysen.

Police say Ecton also knew Kirkwood-Black and Black were active drug users.

All three arrested pleaded not guilty Wednesday afternoon.

Junkies use it to put the crying kids to sleep after theyve neglected the child all day making iot starve and live in its own shit cos theyre out scoring drugs. trainspotting like shit man its bad

I dont think most drug users would really do that, but anyone who DOES do that deserves one right in the forehead.

where the fuck did all these methadone child murder stories come from???

I don't believe they're murders (except for the sippy cup chick).

Something huge is about to happen and is already happening in the US. It involves the media, the pharmaceutical industry, the law-enforcement unions, the penal industry, the recovery industry, the insurance industry and a bunch of other spokes in the macroeconomic wheel.

The repeal of alcohol prohibition in the 1930s helped the war on drugs come to maturity. I think the gradual decline in the popularity of tobacco coupled with the gradual decriminalization of marijuana has activated a coordinated effort to shift the war's front to opioid receptor ligands.

sooo...you dont believe that the people who WERE charged with murder becuz there was evidence to support it, were murderers, but you DO believe that the woman who was not even CHARGED with murder (meaning there was no evidence that she intentionally hurt anybody) DID murder the kid? WTF? That dont make no sense yo.

Also, how the fuck are they charging this kids mother if she wasnt there. Now you are guilty of murder, if you leave your kid with somebody who aint a good babysitter?

"You let your kid get babysay by people who you knew used drugs, therefore if they kill her, its YOUR FAULT!!!

thats fuckin insane, ridiculous and stupid. Unless the charge is becuz she didnt take the kid to the hospital and let her die overnight, the that makes sense, but the "she knew they were drug users" part makes it sound like they consider her responsible for murder JUST becuz of that.

One reason you may start seeing more methadone ODs: a lot of insurance companies are encouraging doctors to prescribe methadone to CP patients. It's cheap, effective and less likely to be abused than many other painkillers. (Or so they say: I have serious doubts about that, but many doctors will swear that methadone is not euphoric and hence useless to drug seekers, just like they will swear that Suboxone can't be IVed because of the naloxone).

Methadone is toxic to some people and can have nasty side effects compared to Morphine and Oxycodone....for some people. Not for everyone, but its not a great drug for all people.

I lived in oregon for a bit and their state health plan only covered vicodin and methadone.

Also-well said laceyk, I couldn't agree more.

This.

A chick at my rehab, God i feel bad for her - She was prescribed methadone by a crooked doctor who kept increasing the dose until she was taking 1000mgs of it daily for Christ sake. She gained 100 pounds and got horrible heart problems. Had to get a pacemaker put in.

She sued the doctor and won.

at 1000mg a day it would be fuckin toxic to anybody, jesus. methadone might have some reports of toxicity but usin a 1000mg a day dose as proof that its toxic, thats like sayin apples are bad for you becuz some broad ate 5 lbs of apples everyday and got sick.

Yeah a gram a day is an anomaly. I've never heard of that at a clinic before. It's generally a pretty safe drug once you reach a dose that works for you. So long as you're not a total ragamuff.

Did they feed the kid the stuff or did it just get into it on its own somehow?
