My Grammie means the world to me, her passing does not change that.
From the day that I was born, we have had a special bond that even her death has not broken. I have and will always love her from the very depths of my soul and I know she knows that .
Everyone who knew her loved her. She has charm and spunk and sass and that is how I will always remember her. She is a strong woman, tender, elegant and graceful. She loved unconditionally, the way we al l should.
She and I would often stay up late and talk story, she would tell me about Hawaii, and about my mother and the rest of her children growing up, and she would always tell me how much she loved me and to NEVER forget that.
I will never forget the way she laughed when watching Golden Girls, or how she loved watching Magnum PI. I will never forget that she was afraid of snakes and loved chewing on fish eyes. I will never forget her pancakes or her shoes, I used to love wearing all her high heels when I was young. I will never forget how particular she was about her hair and how she yelled at you if you tried to help her walk up the stairs because “she isn’t an old lady”. I will never forget how Leslie teased her about Wally or how she flirted with her male doctors. I will never forget her voice, especially the way she said “Julie” when she was calling me.
I miss my Grammie, with all that I am. But I will be strong and raise my son and talk story with him so he will remember her too. She loved it that he called her Great-Mama.
And, as of today, I am no longer afraid to die, because when I do, I get to be with her again – my Golden Girl.

i feel for u, when mine passed away, i refused to believe in a god that would let her go in such a manner and paradoxically, i wanted to believe in something so desperately, in the hopes that she is in a better place.
