Grainy Vision/ Visual Snow

But do you think it is the psychedelics? It seems to me it might be the marijuana, because the only time the grainy vision is amplified is when I smoke marijuana. Psychedelics don't amplify it, if anything they decrease it.

I agree with you, I don't think it is the psychedelics. I had some mild visual static occasionally when I was younger, and then after smoking weed it got worse, and worse, and worse, until it was extremely bad in the dark. Contrary to what you said, psychedelics DO seem to amplify it for me - not during the trip, as during the trip it almost completely disappears, but for the first 3-4 days after the trip there's more static than normal. However after that it goes back to normal. With Cannabis on the other hand the effect seems permanent, it sucks :(

I had something like this a few days ago. I woke up in the middle of the night and couldn't get back to sleep. When it started to get light, I was staring at the ceiling and noticing things, it was like a very mild trip but i was fully aware. It would go away briefly if I blinked or looked away, but return within 3-4 seconds.

What I was seeing was the snow you mentioned in the title.. it was as if the ceiling was flaking away. I was also seeing distortions in size, and at points it looked as if it was breathing.

I smoke cannabis fairly often, but hadn't within 2 days of this happening, and I haven't taken any hallucionogenics for months.

It's pretty fucked up, but at the same time I found it amusing. Haven't really noticed it since, but haven't tried staring at the ceiling since either!

Can anyone come up with any real legitimately proven accounts of HPPD? Things like retina damage or any thing? HPPD is bullshit, it is imaginary. You guys need to spend some money on glasses and contacts instead of drugs for just on month and you could probably be able to see better. Like drugs will melt your eyes, distort your pupuls, another urban legion. Seriously go to the eye doctor. Life is simple, your imagination is big and complicated.

Whatever, I always have trails and seeing patterns and a permanent wall of CEV's is normal. I don't really care and it doesn't stop psych use, but some people certainly are prone to lingering visuals from so much indulgence.

Ever since a while ago when I used DXM frequently I've had almost the EXACT same symptoms you describe at the EXACT same magnitude. I always figured it was HPPD (yes, dxm does cause it too).

I'm curious, those of you who have experienced such HPPD symptoms, especially the severe ones which will not go away, what was the level of use which brought on such a condition? Did you have one absolute balls out trip that your vision/thoughts were never quite the same since, or was it a process after (ab)using psychadelics over a period of weeks/months?

i admit that i am indeed a dumbass and when i was like 12 i popped like 7 adderalls (i didnt know better and had completely no idea they contained any type of amphetamine in them) and ended up in the hospital trippin balls running around seeiing clearish helicopters chase me around. ever since tht day i have had HPPD. visuals day and especially night involving flurries, and the best way i can describe the visuals is tht its like looking through nightvision only in all color

That whole seeing grainy colored dots makes me think of nitrous oxide visuals (Doing a lot), never had that with psychadelics. Probably just age man, some people's eyes lose ability faster than others. If you have a concern that drugs agravate the symptoms, lay off drugs. See a doctor for your eyes

I get the static and grainy vision all the time, kind of covers your whole spectrum of vision, usually when you close your eyes you can see blobs of colors floating around sometimes? who knows everyones is different it seems...

I remember being really high once though and seeing the fractals of light coming off a really bright light whilst in the night with colors shining out of them, was kind of cool and nice to look at. (Not directly at it, that'd burn a spot in my eye and I hate that, but off the side of my vision...)

The sun has this effect but you can't really stare up in that direction for too long or..well.. try it and find out!

really the static and blobs get pronounced at night and high noon... I kind of got used to it, and learning about HPPD helped me get over it, its not like it will handicap you... if anything i think its a great thing being able to visually 'see' peoples auras, etc... but I wish i had this ability.. though I've known a few people (Psychedelic and non-psychedelic users) who have had this ability...

Some people see the non-psychedelic users who have these abilities as kind of a next step in evolution... see indigo children and crystal people or whatnot... some of it is interesting, other sites are just plain ridiculous :P

I think its an after effect from the use of the psychedelics that happened in the 60's and a alteration within the brain chemistry of future generations... but theres no scientific evidence to provide backing for this, just a random thought I had... (NOT SAYING LSD DAMAGES CHROMOSOMES, I have a copy of this article and it is hilarious hahahaha)

But just like if a mother who is pregnant, has a habit of eating certain foods, the child in turn would probably be similar, i've heard this many a time... same goes for people who smoke marijuana, do cocaine, heroin, anything... the liklihood of addiction is probably higher because it goes into the child as it is developing... so who knows what mind expanding drugs may do to the mind of an embryoo...

HPPD is bullshit there is a lot of factors in eyesight I really don’t think residual effects of psychedelic drugs do anything to it especially when you 17 years old. Get some glasses or put your head in some ice water and wake up.

HPPD is real, however a lot of people get stuff that isn't HPPD confused with HPPD itself. Another thing is, it's perfectly normal to have visual distortions that last a week or two after you've consumed the drug - not everyone has it, but plenty of people do, and usually the simple solution is just to not dose for a few weeks - but a lot of people confuse this with HPPD and think it's permanent, often because they're dosing every week or two anyway so don't give it a chance to disappear.

Floaters are not HPPD, or in any way related, however in the period of increased awareness during the time after you take a drug, you can become aware of floaters you never noticed before, causing them to seem more prominent than they are until you stop thinking about them. Static can be related to HPPD but lots of people who have never touched drugs also develop visual snow/static.
