If its an alert from uk government should they not have alerted people in scotland for which was a far more serious situation
Businesses had to close down ,air quality affected people with asthma etc

I don't understand it either. Maybe the Scottish government had the option to do it but didn't.

But yeah, Scotland and the Six Counties should have received the same warning.

Could be a few reasons for that?

Maybe if your phone was switched off it might not have been able to received and store the message for display once the power was restored? Maybe you're using an un-registered 'burner phone'? Or just not using a phone number that you've used to register on any you.gov websites etc?

Or maybe you've switched off receiving such messages in your phones settings, which I gather from the comments is something that many people have already done, or will do now, following on from this alert.

The first bolded bit above is possibly true (50% ) and the second bolded is also possibly true...sounds like something I would do...but can't remember if I did that nor how to check...will find out when can be arsed to do such a thing

Possibly, but governments are like sheep ,we seen that with covid ,councils spending money they didn't have putting social distancing bollards outdoors and converting streets 1 way

apart from listing an extraterrestrial invasion, as that's the most unlikely emergency situation to hit us, at least for the foreseeable future, seeing as we don't even have any evidence of any encounters yet!
