I went to a street hooker and when I came home and had a bath I saw that my arm was scratched. The scratch is very superficial but it hurts a lot, like a scratch you would get from something really really sharp because I didn't even notice when I got it.
I know that I could have contracted HIV. Not only that, I know that I may have been infected on porpoise. My question is how long till I can be sure that I got it or I don't. Tomorrow I'm going to the hospital. No, in fact I think I'm going to the hospital right now. I don't know what to to I'm scared.

What makes you think this scratch was from a needle? Relax, chances are you're fine. I assume you used a condom?

The HIV tests check for antibodies that your body makes if you're infected. The antibodies can show up anywhere from 2 weeks plus, it changes from person to person. You want to get a check within three months, and then another check after three months to ensure that you haven't just developed the anti-bodies late.

Okey. Thanks. I just came back from the hospital and a couple of doctors who where standing at the door told me not to worry. They told me I was freaking out over nothing and they asked me what was I on..... So yep, I'll go to a clinic first thing monday, but they said that the ER doctor wouldn't do anything for me.

I am a little less terrified right now.....

I absolutely concur - thanks for your great posts Mel22, they were very timely and have obviously assisted the OP to relax a little. I'm closing this now mate, as I feel it has served its purpose.
