Good things about being off drugs/getting sober

No pain, no hiding in the shadows anymore, being with family even though some of them are half way around the world or an hour away. My brother is in Alaska, I haven't actually seen him face to face since mothers day my fiancé and daughter are an hour away. The only ppl I have at home is my dad and some times two of my other brothers. It's lonely some times but I'm glad I have someone. If I was still using right now my daughter would more than likely be taken from me permanatley and I'd be living on the streets. I was *this* close to it happening but I'm glad it didn't:)
 
I finished my research paper and related presentation, rather then just saying fuck it and dropping the class like I would have if I was using.
 
Not having to be around people you hate i.e. benzo addicts just to get your DOC
 
Well damn haha that's hard for me to answer because the last time I've been sober for longer than 10 days was when I was in rehab for 36 days back in july. but I loved the fact that I was truly happy for once. You know that clean natural content feeling. Man I wish I could feel like that again :'(

I know exactly what you mean bro. I hate hanging out with using "friends". Mainly because I don't feel like you could talk to them about anything other than drugs

I started suboxone and now I can't get off of that! Ugh!! Must say though, life without opiates is a much better one but this other crap :( is getting t give me the same problems....
 
Hmm good things about being off drugs...

No more leak in ye ol' pocket; no more hangovers (though I will probably have on tomorrow lol)

no more fun timez...jk being sober and having fun is a lot better than letting a drug do it for you; it builds our indispensable character.
 
Being on good terms with family & friends again - just getting back to a better quality of life before I got all Grey Gardens with my habit.

I try not to think of monetary concerns because health/wellness/being clean is so important, but it certainly doesn't hurt that my 'get well' plan costs about 1/10th of what I spent on my 'get sick half the time and unconscious the other' route I was going.
