good sublingual technique?

i think something is wrong with my sublingual technique.. it's just weak.

i tried it a couple times with a bunch of 2c-e. I'd rub the powder under my tongue, and let it sit there for half an hour or a little bit more. my mouth would salivate a lot so after half an hour my mouth would be full of nasty thick 2c-e saliva that I would spit out.. don't think I could swallow it without gagging.

is there something more to it than this? am i supposed to continuously swish it around my mouth? because i repeated this several times in a row enough 2c-e that i should be tripping really hard but it didn't get me to where I want. I'd trip, sure, but it just wasn't as strong as I'd expect the dose I'm taking to be..

If you spit it out, then you aren't absorbing as much as you think. Also, the gums is a better spot simply because it won't cause you to salivate as hard.

First and foremost, you need to accurately measure your doses. Secondly, you still need to swallow the rest of the drug...

Have some water, juice etc... handy to get rid of the taste.

well the main point is so i dont have to swallow it, i thought.. swallowing increases chances of nausea/gas that i want to avoid by taking it sublingually

how long do i need to hold it in my mouth so that most of it is absorbed?

It is generally better to put the substance on your gums when dosing 'sublingually'.
The skin is thinner and you don't have taste buds there, so the taste won't be hardly as bad.
Also the salivation (as already pointed out below) will be much less.
Just wash the rest down with some acidic juice, like orange or grapefruit juice.
Acid outweighs the bitter and nasty (alkaline) taste of most chemicals.

thanks ill try putting it on my gums next time

how long should i keep it in my mouth for before swallowing? is there any type of indicator to know when most of it has been absorbed, like not being able to taste it anymore?

If you don't swallow it, you aren't going to get all of it. In your thick saliva, you can hold it there all day. It would be more uncomfortable to hold it there than to just swallow it. If you're concerned about nausea/gas, have some pepto and gasex on hand. Gotta break a few eggs if you wanna make an omelet.

^No one take this post out of context.

That's the problem with me, is I salivate a lot. I don't take anything sublingually, so not sure how good my advice will be. But I have taken Suboxen before, as prescribed and under the tongue.

A friend of mine who recently quit Oxy and takes Sub's regularly now for detox, told me that he has a hard time with them under the tongue because his mouth waters too much, which causes him to move his tongue around a lot and swallow the saliva often.

He claims that if you take something (i.e. a drug) that causes dry mouth about an hour before you put your drugs under the tongue, it really helps him. Just moisten your mouth by drinking a little water and swish a cap full every so often as needed. But the drug should dissolve under your tongue as normal, maybe slightly slower, but you won't salivate as much which will prevent excessive swallowing.

Just a suggestion.

Sounds like a shitty idea to me... Why?
- Salivation is more or less dependent on bloodflow; higher bloodflow = more salivation (generally speaking i.e. simplified reasoning). So inhibiting salivation means less bloodflow, meaning it will take longer to take up the drug from your mouth (at least, to transport it to the area where it gives the desired effect; uptake is mostly simple diffusion through cell membranes).
- Saliva protects your teeth against cavities and infection. In fact, xerostomia (dry mouth) is one of the major causes of 'meth mouth'.
- Most drugs that inhibit salivation are also psychoactive (antihistamines or antidepressants, for instance).

Just put under your tongue and sit upright without talking or moving you tounge for as long as possible. Then when saliva does build up just swish it around in your mouth and gargle with it for as long as you can stand, then either swallow or spit.
I usually do Suboxone like this and it takes about 20-30 minutes. You get the two large veins under your tongue and later if there is any left your gums and back of your throat pick up the rest. I also wonder if you swallow there may be some veins on the way down that can pick some up before it gets destroyed in the stomach.

First, smoke a few bowls one after another (if you smoke weed) a 1/2hr. before you dose. It'll give you cotton mouth- totally helps. Subbing powder I find to be less effective than a pill, but since, in your case, it's probably just powder- put it in a lump under one side of your tongue. Press down firmly on the bump with your tongue. Try and relax, close your eyes, try not to think about the gross shit under your tongue. Kinda purse your lips together- it's hard to explain but you're like clinching down on the pill/powder with your whole mouth not just your tongue. If you do this right, there's not as many open spaces in your mouth. Just leave it for 30-40 mins. I'm doing it with a 'done now & I swear most times no saliva builds up at all when I do it this way. Leaving no need to spit or swallow. ;)

Hopefully this makes a little sense. I don't know why it works for me. Trying to make sure no saliva builds up is the name of the game. If it start, and some of the powder slips from under your tongue, it's kinda over. Then it starts to swish all around your mouth and more saliva builds & you have a mouthfull of gooey gross shit (sounds like what you have at the end). If you can make it work & no saliva builds there's the added benefit of not being able to taste it.

Also, if it starts to build up anyway, but the stuff under your tongue hasn't come out, then you can usually just spit it out gently w/o disturbing the drugs in your mouth.

As with most things- practice makes perfect.

im planning on just putting it on my gums.. any reason why you prefer putting it under the tongue? does it absorb better that way or something?

On my little suboxone brochure i got with the script it says that your mouth should b dampened so that the pill will dissolve faster. When I've taken bupe siblingualy with a dry mouth I find it takes much longer to dissolve.
