ive been suffering severe intermitent Diarrhea for the best part of 9 months now, i can mostly put it down to my Opiate and Possible Benzo use/misuse.

As many of you know one of Opiates well known side effects is Constipation which usually last around 2-3 days after my last dose of any Opiate and then this is followed by anywhere between 3-7 days of severe diarrhea (pure liquid) :(

Ive tried using Immodium which helps for a couple of days but just makes me feel bloated and generally sick to the point of near vomiting, so i then will use a small one of dose of an Opiate once the Diarrhea returns in the hope that this will help and i wont suffer any more rebound withdrawal a few days later, but alas the Diarrhea usually comes back some days later.

I know what im doing is just living a vicious circle, ive spoken to my Drug therapist and G.P about these symptoms and they agree that they are almost certainly due to my lifestyle.

I also wonder how my Benzo use/abuse and withdrawals effect this aspect of my health...

Does anybody have any ideas? Apart from stop using Benzos/Opiates.

Btw as some may know at my worst i was using doses of Alprazolam as high as xxxmg per weekend and 400mg Oxycontin (OC) orally in a day.

Would my symptoms be related to PAWS?

Thanks for your time.

Btw i exercise regulary and keep hydrated and also eat a good, healthy balanced diet when i have an appetite.

Benzodiazepine and Opiate withdrawal can cause diarrhea, especially at those high doses.

Try eating lots of bananas in addition to whatever medication you end up on.

Bananas stop you up. Eat 3 or more. Eat a high fiber diet.

Maybe the diarrhea is stress related. Maybe you could try a anti depressant and see if that helps.

Ive always been a 3 Bananas a day person anyway.

Ive was also on Antidepressants between June 2011 - April/May 2012, i tried 3 different lots, Citalopram, Sertraline and Venlafaxine.

They either didnt help, gave me side-effects or left me feeling suicidal.
