I'm new to the forum as an ER/trauma nurse, I hope to gain some great information to help educate my patients through what I learn as well as from my past experiences.

Hello I'm currently in the er! With my boyfruend he took mdma for the first time last night and he started to have heart palpitations! It was scary but were good now! At a 96 heart rate and 98/16 on the bottom of the monitor! Is there any tips you can give me to take care of him at home! They're not being too helpful here. Thanks I would appreciate it

Palpitations are a common reaction to MDMA. It's hard to address the question without knowing all the info. The main thing is to make sure that he is safe, we basically treat the symptoms as they arise. If he starts to have any more signs and symptoms of cardiac issues such as chest pain or dizziness, if he is running a high fever or having seizures then he will require further emergency treatment. What pressure seems a little bit low, that could be caused from dehydration or other factors but I would be Leary of giving oral fluids at this point until u know he is not having any further symptoms as seizures are a common side effect and you don't want him getting fluid in the lungs if he seizes. I'm assuming he is receiving IV fluid in the ER? Supportive care is the key.

Ok here's the whole story; basically last night we wanted to try some Molly and we thought that it was pure but obviously looking at where we are now it was not pure by any definition of the word. We took it around 1 am he took .1-.2 of a gram (I took .1 of a gram and kept re-dosing maybe twice and I feel fine).
Anyway around 3:30 am his heart went from racing to hurting and tightening. It kept getting worse, he would only find relief when he was moving around. Finally after a couple more hours of that he finally let me take him to the er and we got here at 5-6ish I don't remember. Once admitted they told us that it wasn't just mdma in the mix but cocaine and god knows what else. Currently they're taking tests of his heart (an ultrasound) and I'm videotaping as she's going (they don't tell me anything!!)

I know that they wanted to keep him for 23 more hours more to watch him. Not sure if that's good or bad. My mind is all over the place I haven't slept in 24 hours, so I'm just gonna ask a bunch of questions that not one doctor or nurse here can find the time to answer !!! Lol
1. He twitches in his sleep Is that normal
2. He can he still have a heart attack or anything?
3. He takes OxyCodone 30 mg tablets and He took it against my will when I went to the bathroom. Is this really bad?

Ok that's all I have. Thank you. I'm just a concerned girlfriend. I want to understand

The twitching can be related to any stimulant and will generally calm down as the substances leave the body. As time passes the chances of having side effects such as a heart attack or seizure decreases. And taking other meds on top of what he had already taken can complicate his condition but not as likely if he takes them on a regular basis. You become used to opiates the longer your on them. If you want to send the videos you can send to my secure email. If u let me know your email I will reply and you can attach it.
