Long time lurker, decided its time to create a profile. I am very pleased by the advice and support given on this site!
I?m not sure what brings me here daily, other than a step son who is an addict, and a teenage daughter suffering major depression and anxiety. Myself? I am just not ready to share any of that yet, other than early 40?s, female, juggling a career and home life. I look forward to contributing where I feel I can support. I am in awe of the knowledge held by long time members here.

Happy Hump Day!

Hey Madness00

I don?t believe I have had any hobbies since my daughter was born 15+ years ago. Cannot recall last time I read a book. l played baseball until she was born, still love watching it. The weather is finally turning, so out walking the trails nightly. Now that you bring that up, maybe it?s time to get back into things.

What are your hobbies?

It's never too late.

I enjoy long walks in the city, video games, snow boarding/wake boarding hiking and hunting when i get the time. I used to collect baseball cards, go out drinking, and did a lot of sports like lacrosse, soccer, track and baseball.

I'm fairly limited in my accessibility to my preferred hobbies because of my current situation, but i'd like to get back into things when my CORI clears and my finances resettle ;)

Do you enjoy your job?

Love it. Oversee purchasing professionals across all of NA and currently growing. Been in purchasing for many years. Bit more travel than I like (novelty wore off year ago) but love the teams I work with.
I guess I do have a hobby! Piercing and tattoos. Lol Of course all discreet, given my profession. Had a Tragus piercing last night and booked a tattoo for Saturday.

What is CORI?

Piercings are cool! Got my nipples pierced in college :)

Working in teams can be difficult but rewarding. Do you play a specific role in team work? I tend to be the mediator, trying to cohesively integrate everyone's ideas no matter how bizarre. Everyone is on the team for a reason and no one person's ideas are invalid.

CORI = Criminal Offender Record Information. It's holding me back from going back into corporate finance, so i've been settling for customer service positions. Would really like to manage hedge funds, private equity accounting, or really anything that has to do with either numbers or management.

Lol. My husband got his nipples pierced but took them out a few year ago- felt he was too old for them. I loved them!! I am all for piercings with the exception of ones that stretch your lobes and no facial piercings except for the the nose. Just for myself. To each their own!

I am the Director for the NA teams. It is so rewarding, working with great people who do an amazing job day in and out. They make my job so easy. l mentor and ensure we are aligned with corporate goals and strategies. Always lend a hand or jump in to help when someone is overwhelmed. I started at the bottom and worked my way up and have not forgotten where I came from. Had to further my education while working my way up. Currently looking at another advancement in 4-6 months. Don?t tell anyone, but sometimes I am amazed that I get paid so well for doing something so fun. I love brainstorming and connecting departments to solve issues. I have no issues being calm in the middle of a crisis and apparently that is not normal around our place. Lol.
That?s exciting that you are looking into corporate finance. Hope that can happen for you sooner than later. Over here, we got my husband a pardon (fight from when he was 19), it took some time and some money. Is this what you are looking at so you can move forward?

Keeping calm when it matters is a great skill to have. I can at times be a hot head, but when it really comes down to it I have great composure. You seem like a clutch player, and i'm glad that your work is so rewarding. Waking up every day and having a sense of purpose must be a great feeling.

In my situation, I got a Continued Without A Finding deal, and after probation is over apparently employers can't discriminate against me. Although a felony, my crime was violent as opposed to fraudulent, so maybe employers will see me as an aggressive but financially diligent worker !!

My dad hated his job. He got paid really well, but would complain about the politics every day. I actually enjoy the political aspect of jobs, because I tend to really get along with upper management in the corporate world, as I've been told I come off as cool headed, outside the box thinker, inquisitive and very polite !!

I hope you find what you're looking for here on Bluelight, and if you ever want to talk about private issues that you don't want publicly announced on the forum don't hesitate to PM me.

Ohh, you sound like you are ready (and destined) for great things! Hopefully your probation ends soon. Being able to navigate corporate politics is huge.
My folks had factory jobs so I am the first for management. Don?t get me wrong- I don?t love it 24 hours a day, every day. I still lose a lot of sleep if I do have to discipline or worse, terminate someone.

I really appreciate your warm welcome! Thanks for helping me get my feet wet.
Def will see you around on the forum.

Have a great day!
