On the site Documentary Heaven theirs a excellent Pablo Escobar Documentary. Its Called "The two Escobars" In refrence to Andres Escobar the Columbian Footballer that was murdered after the 94 world Cup .
Its the best commentary on Escobar i've come across.

Reindeerspotting: Escape from Santaland is a Finnish documentary film about drug abusers in Rovaniemi.

While living in the city of Rovaninemi in Finland's northern Lapland province, Reindeerspotting director Joonas Neuvonen lived off social welfare and spent most of his days doing drugs. During this time, he decided to document his circle of friends, focusing on his friend Jani, a 19 year old who also uses drugs, in particular the heroin detox medication subutex.

Jani lives off social welfare as well, but his habit has grown to the point where he resorts to theft and petty crime to support it, even losing 2 of his fingers because of debts with drug dealers. Bored with his life in Rovanienmi and with a jail sentance for his petty crimes looming, Jani longs to escape the cold Finnish city. After managing to steal 5000 euros, Jani and Joonas hop a train and travel around Europe, during which time Jani talks about quitting drugs and settling down. However, it soon becomes apparent that drugs have become his life.

finally i've found decent subtitles for for this, if you want to know where to RENT a copy of this documentary & get the subtitles shoot me a mail on here

don't watch it on that site, i've already tried it. the subtites are super imposed to the video and TERRIBLE!!! -

you need to get hold of the Finnish version with no subtitles (PM me - we can't link to warez here) and then download these subtitles and watch with VLC player anything that supports loading up sub title files

Watched this last night and it was a real eye opener. Called Into the Fire and it's footage from 2010 G20 summit in Toronto where they basically put the city under martial law. The behaviour of the police is shocking, all the footage was taken by protesters. Is this a taste of things to come !!!

Now watching it, good watch. Hate to say it but it really doesnt shock me, it should do but thats what the police are like across the world. The only thing that really suprised me was video evidence of "black block" members easily passing through riot police lines. There must of been an infiltration operation of black block to stir things up. Leading protesters down streets where police cars had been abandoned, you could nearly call it entrapment on a massive scale.

Watching it really makes my blood boil, so many police officers need teaching a lesson. Whens g20 coming back to the UK?

I watched that reptilian and it was really interesting :)

Recently I watched the Horizon special about the search for the Higgs Boson search getting ever closer. It's really fucking exciting if you're into that sort of thing ^_^

To think that we may either:
a) Have a full understanding of how the Universe operates/ is / came to be / how subatomic particles were given mass etc. etc.
Or...
b) Have to rethink and rewrite all the textbooks...

Is extremely exciting to me personally :)

Oh - It's on the Beeb iplayer.

Anyone ever watch the "A vices guide to.." where they go to some seriously fucked up countries, I think Liberia is the most shocking one ive seen, the North Korea one is just plain wierd, there are a few other ones aswell ive not really seen dont know if theyve been mentioned.

Here is the Liberia trailer, you can watch the whole thing on youtube.

I'd seen the North Korea one before but not any of the others. Just gave the Liberia one a swatch and, yeah, it's pretty grim :|

If you found that interesting you should check out Ross Kemp Extreme World: Congo. Similar sort of thing - not a particularly 'feel good' watch but interesting nonetheless. The rest of the series is worth a watch as well. Also on the same site is a couple of episodes of Ross Kemp in the Amazon. Again, pretty interesting stuff. Kinda fucked up how much damage the gold mining is doing. I didn't even realise there was that much gold in the amazon...

This thread is here to recommend "good documentaries" yep that simple - not specifically European or African ones, or even war ones, but any the members like.
