MOTLEY CRUE - THE DIRT

TWEAKED - Nic Sheff is gold and the book his dad wrote BEAUTIFUL BOY about his addiction is a perfect match!

"the outlaw bible of American literature" is full of short incerpts from books talking bout' drugs use/abuse and the lifestyle. Covers nearly every book ever been in publication. There is a forward on just that.

Candy by Luke Davies. It's one of the most amazingly accurate and moving stories about heroin addiction I've ever read. I think I've read it five-ish times. a movie based on the book came out a few years ago and Heath Ledger and Abbie Cornish. the book is better than the movie by far though.

Also, Elizabeth Wurtzel, author of Prozac Nation, wrote More, Now, Again which is a very moving and powerful account of her drug addiction and attempts at recovery. It's easily one of the best books I've ever read.

I think, out of all the books written on psychedelics, The Spirit Molecule can give you the best idea of what psychedelic drugs are capable of doing to people, and the types of people that go overboard with them.

I think when most people read the book they're so desperate to believe in some sort of far-out revelation they lose their critical thinking ability entirely, but if you can read it critically there is a TON written 'between the lines'.

Try to empathize with Dr. Strassman as he interacts with people in the book, imagine what must have been going through his head. Imagine yourself in the same situations, how you would act and what conclusions you'd draw. Its like the ghost of Mark Twain wrote the book somehow.

Tweak: Growing up on methamphetamines Nic Sheff

I started it... and then re-started it (trying to focus more) --- im almost finished on day 2... certain parts were quite stirring and felt almost surreal... like i'd been in those exact situations

I just finished this book recently, and it's fantastic. It's called "Can't Find My Way Home: America in the Great Stoned Age, 1945-2000" by Martin Torgoff. Here's the Google Books info on it: http://books.google.com/books?id=PpqQTLE_qBEC

It's a pretty thick book, but don't let the size intimidate you. It's a very quick (and interesting) read.

Yeah I have that book, it's pretty damn cool, like a real history of drug use and drug cultures in the 1900-2000 timeframe..lotta cool stories and quotes by some really cool and many dead people ,,,A damn good book, and it's all true..

Pharmako/Poeia: Plant Powers, Poisons, and Herbcraft; and the two other books in the trilogy by Dale Pendell. I didn't like all of it, but there was definitely some interesting reading in there.

Check out "When money grew on trees" by David Mack one of the best non fiction books ive ever read. Really gives you a good sense of the corruption and marijuana scene around my neck of the woods. But a great read for real.
