Gonna Try To Take a Break From Subs. Questions

I have been taking Subutex for about 8 months.

I haven't used another opiate since November. My tolerance at the time was about 45mg of oxy.

When I first started taking subs I would usually take oxy at least once a month for the first few months. I would go about 30 days on Subs at about 1-2mg a day and just go off the subs for about 18 hours and I would feel 45-60mg of oxy just fine.

Well now I have been taking Subs for about 5 months nonstop without a break. At one point I was actually taking way more then I needed. Now I'm back to about 2-3mg a day.

A couple of questions I have is. Is it possible my tolerance to opiates went up while I was taking way too much Subutex? For a while I was taking maybe 6mg a day. I realized It wasn't making me feel better so now I'm back down to 2-3mg. I'm sure I could even take less if I needed to.

How does Buoe effect most peoples tolerances? If I have raised my tolerance to anything above 60mg oxy I would just be wasting my time doing this. I won't have enough oxy to make it worth my while.

Another question would be. When I would take Sub breaks before I was usually on the Subs for about thirty days and feel really good oxy effects after only 18 hours at about a 45mg oxy dose. Then after each day I would get better and better results from the oxy.

Since I have been taking the Subs for five straight months this time will it not be as easy to get a quick buzz off of some oxy? This isn't a "how long should I wait" question. I'm just wondering if there is a difference between taking the subs for thirty days as opposed to five months.

I don't run into extra money as much as I used to when i was taking opiates daily and I don't want to waste it buying oxy that will do oohing to me. Im only gonna have enough oxy for 3-4 days. I'm just worried that I could of screwed up my tolerance when I was taking like 6-7mg of bupe a day. Also I am worried that it will take longer for me to feel the oxy since i have been taking the subs for five straight months as opposed to the typical thirty days I used to do.

So my main question would be when switching from bupe to another opiate quickly is there a difference in having the bupe in my system for 5 months as opposed to thirty days. Would the bupe be any more attached to my receptors after five months as opposed to thirty days?

For anyone out there who is wondering why I am wanting to ruin my "sobriety" I have been feeling pretty bad for the past few months and want to see if the Subs have anything to do with it. If by taking 45mg of oxy it makes all of my bad health symptoms go away that will answer a lot of questions for me.

Nope. The withdrawal time frame will be the same.

I say go for it man. :)

In my experience, yes bupe probably did raise your tolerance, but how much I couldn't tell you.

In any case, I believe you can wait 36 hours after your last dose, and you should be good to dose with the oxy.

From many years of first hand experience, I can comfortably tell you that being on bupe for 5 months (6 in my case) will certainly make any opiate you take less effective after say 24 hours than taking the same dose after just a few weeks of bupe. You mentioned not wanting to take a dose of oxy and have it be wasted... I personally have found that if you were taking as much as 2 mg daily before stopping completely that you will need more to feel high, if anything, especially for the first few days. Of course that is what bupe is intended for, to block the positive effects of opiates/opioids. As stated above, the time frame for withdrawals will be the same, so once the drug has reached its half life you will certainly have no problem, and I doubt the dose needed would increase more than say your 45mg to 60mg. Of course it varies from person to person, but being on similar doses as yourself of both the sub and oxycodone and experimenting with using after feeling that same low feeling after months of bupe.... that first two days or so I never seem to quite get a full effect, and it sure as hell doesn't last very long at first! I'd hate to see anyone go through what I did in going between bupe and oxy/hydro so be as patient as you can, the closer to 36-48 hours you wait, the better especially if you can't afford to waste any!
