gonna try mary jane for the first time

Don't. It's terrible! It makes you laugh and eat all kinds of food. lol. Have fun. IME I didn't get high my first time, but everyone is different.

Enjoy it and have fun!

Listen to some music, watch a movie, or go outside and take a walk.

Don't overdo it, like take a hit or a few hits from a joint, bowl, or bong and see what it's like getting high but don't take 10 hits all at once.

You can always smoke more later if one hit didn't get you high but make sure you smoke and inhale correctly lots of people including myself don't get high the first time since we didn't know how to smoke or inhale.

The most important thing is atmosphere. Beeing really blazed can be fine if you are in a safe place with a group of friends, but I remember having panic attacks from just a buzz because I was in a public place, and I let paranoia get the best of me. Once you get comfortable with smoking in a contained environment, you can begin to venture out into more public areas while high.

Learning to smoke correctly (inhale, hold the smoke, etc) will all come with time, but I feel the most important thing for your first few times is to be comfortable with your surroundings. Remember, if you get really paranoid and have a bad experience your first time, you will always try and compare your next experiences with that (and thus lead to more paranoia).

I am going to bashfully admit that I've never tried pot. I'd like to try it, and the advice in this thread has been quite educational. I just don't know where to get it, and then I'd be paranoid of getting caught with it in my system. How many of you 'seasoned' pot smokers have managed to never get caught?

Also - for a first timer - do you HAVE TO smoke it? Why not bake it up in brownies or something similar?

Don't worry about not getting high, worry about not freaking the fuck out. I wish that I didn't get high my first time, personally. I don't mean that I wish it never happened, I just wish it eased in a little easier.

I would definitely recommend trying it just to get a feel for the effects and just seeing how you react. If your body doesn't get along well with THC, then trust me, you'll know.

If he wasn't paranoid, he probably is now with your suggestion of telling him to not freak out lmao.

But yeah, I agree, he should take a small hit or 2 then wait and see how it reacts to him.

You won't get caught unless someone wants to catch you smoking weed. And if they do, then fuck em.

And for a first timer, DO NOT EAT IT!! Don't eat brownies. Seriously, don't. Guaranteed, you'll eat too much and you'll have a day long panic attack of trippy hell.

Lol yeah, having any cannabis edibles your first time is like asking to freak out. Pretty sure one of the only few times I've been too high was when I made a little bit too strong of cookies =D

Wow. I'm seriously misinformed. I thought pot was a drug that induced sedation and indifference. Had no idea about the whole panic thing. How common is that? So if you enjoy smoking it now, did you start out in panic mode and just 'pushed through it?'

^Panic and anxiety are fairly uncommon reactions to pot. I've gotten a bit of anxiety from it a few times, but only when I first started smoking when I smoked during a stressful situation. Generally it only happens with novices, either because you just "push through it" like you said, or because people who get anxiety from weed usually quit smoking it.

I use weed as an anxiolytic, but everyone is different.

As far as getting caught with THC in your system, it should not be a problem unless you get drug tested at work / school etc. You should not worry about your doctors testing for THC unless you (or your parents) ask them to test for THC. Even if they do find THC in your system, they are not going to tell the authorities. I tell my doctors that I smoke, because it helps them diagnose me if I am sick, and they have never told my parents or anyone else. Doctor-Patient Confidentially :). Also, THC is only detectable for about a month (varies depending on the type of test).

In terms of getting caught smoking / with weed:

As long as you do not do anything stupid, you shouldn't get caught. Unfortunately, while blazed it is easy to do something stupid. Here are what I would do:

Do not carry marijuana, or any marijuana paraphernalia around with you while you are high in public. This includes lighters that were used, papers, bowls, even eye-drops. That way, if you are stopped / questioned, they have nothing on you. The likely hood that you will be questioned even while blazed is minimal, but this will help to quell your paranoia. Even if you do do something stupid, and they question you, if you have nothing on you then the cops will have no proof.

Use eye-drops. Many people argue that Rohto are the best, but any redness relief eyedrops will work. Use hand sanitizer on your hands to eliminate the smell, or wash your hands. Gum (or any food / drink besides water) will eliminate weed breath. Wear deodorant if your clothes smell (not too much that its obvious). Store your weed and paraphernalia at home in a container that doesn't let smell out.

If you do get caught by the police, all is not lost. My friend got stopped by the police while smoking in his car. He collected all the weed and paraphernalia and put it on his lap so it would be easier for the cop. The cop took the stuff, but did not write him up. At least in Massachusetts, cops would rather just throw the weed in the woods somewhere than write you up for possession because there is a ton of paperwork and extra work that goes into weed-related citations (as long as you are carrying a small amount, in Massachusetts over an ounce is considered possession with intent to distribute, so check your state laws).

And Remember:
And protip: no one knows that you are baked.

I'm sorry, but this is just retarded. OP, do not under any circumstance even bring up the topic of Cannabis with a doctor.

The rest of your post was very well written, but I just had to point this out.

I got caught once but that was by my dad so it was cool and to answer your other question I feel ingesting it in something like hash brownies gives you a completely different and IMO better high but it takes longer to kick in. But the main thing is if you don't feel comfortable just don't do it nobody is forcing you to get high.

No shame in that! :D I think it's best to wait as long as you can cause you're gonna love the shit out of it. ;)

Pot is different for many people. I love to get up and play racquetball while others love to chill and play video games. This doesn't even take into account the TYPE of pot you're smoking! :D

I think the number one thing, as mentioned above, is, don't trip. It's going to be OK. No matter what happens (with the exception of doing something very dumb like getting behind the wheel of a car) you're going to be OK and nobody knows that you're really high. :D

That completely depends on the doctor. Many doctors don't care, although most would probably tell your parents if you're a minor.

Your doctor is there to help you, and doctors will not give you lower quality treatment if you smoke marijuana. If they are assholes they might be a bit suspicious of you, in which case you should just get a different doctor. Telling them that you smoke marijuana can help them to better treat you.

If your doctor wouldn't care then you should tell them.

Like every one else said do not take an edible your first time; it will be to strong. My mom had a friend that never tried weed before tried a brownie at a party and ended up freaking out bad but she also had some mental health issues

You should not worry about your doctors testing for THC

If your perscribed scheduled perscription medication being tested for THC is something you really really really need to worry about but it all depends on your doctor.
Mine called me 9am kto tell me I failed the test knowing how sick I was then and that I have sleep trouble . She was ready to drop me as a patient to despite to mulple medical conditions I am severly sufforing from and I even had to go see a psycologist for a pain managment evaluation in order in to get her to perscribe me my pain meds again.

I am on multiple prescription medications, for anti-depression, ADHD, and such, so i felt it was important my doctor knew that i have used marijuana. My doctor's job is to keep me healthy, so i see nothing wrong with them knowing that i smoke. I actually think it is a good idea to tell your doctor, unless you have a legal reason not to.

If anyone asks about red eyes just say allergies are real bad and you've been rubbing your eyes. The "i'm tired" excuse is not convincing.
